i've had my car for about a month it has about 1875 miles on it.

so i was driving it today in the city. the roads were bad and i was dodging college kids. so i never got up higher than 3rd. i had my windows done and the music low and i started to notice a noise when the car went i shifted 1st to 2nd. sometimes 2nd to 3rd.
this did not happen all day just mid way through. on my way home it was fine. i have never heard this before today. though my music is louder than it was today and my windows have been up. i don't drive too aggresively usaully so today i was taking it easy.

is this something normal that i have just been not hearing? or was it because i was doing a lot of driving in 1st-3rd?

it sounded like a clunk/thund. i'm sure it was just the gears engaging, but like i saaid i never heard it before.

What model year is it? This sound might be a loose motor mount, but if it is an '08 it should have been taken care of. If it's an '07, be very careful.

manual cars clunk when u shift the gears

yes i know that. this was louder than i have ever heard on this car before.

it's still new i haven;t even made my first payment yet. so i'm just being paranoid.

by the way it is an 2008 MS3 GT.

YUp, same thing wit me. At first i'm like WTF is that sound. realize its the gears engaging, so nothing to worry.

I used to fear the same thing.

I was really nervous had my mechanic get in the car with me. He told me I was an idiot :'( ... lol ....

Nah not really ... but its normal

I would check your transmission mount bolt, even if you have had the recall done. I started noticing additional tranny noise when shifting and something told me to check that bolt. The bolt was so loose, that at first I thought it was stripped.

Car is so much smoother and quieter now. Definitely worth your time to check.

yea, i got that same noise too. noticed it in the middle of a 2 hour drive when i hit traffic and decided to roll the windows down for a bit. i have an 08 as well, so i figured that the motor mount issue should have taken care of, though the noise did sound like it was either a motor or transmission mount, and not the normal clank of the gears engaging. i'll have to check out that tranny mount bolt.

clunk

it sounded like a clunk/thund. i'm sure it was just the gears engaging, but like i saaid i never heard it before.

you might wanna refer yourself to the clunk in your rear suspension seems like everyone is having a clunk noise in their rear end link.
