Just wondering if anyone has ever installed a trailer hitch on an MSP. My friend's got an 03 WRX that has one and I was hoping to get one installed so I could haul my bike up from San Diego to Santa Barbara, and also so that I could get a trailer hitch ski and snowboard rack so I don't have to drill into my roof for a roof rack. /end run on sentence.

Thanks for the help!

on the rooof racks u dont really have to drill or s*** i dont think iv ever heard of somone drilling into there roof for a roof rack lol! they just mount tight on the roof....

and they also have trunk racks as well!

Wouldn't I have to be wingless for one of those? Also, it's hard to put a motorcycle on your roof haha!

They make little tiny trailers that my MSP shouldn't have a problem carrying if it had that hitch!

The BEST bike racks are hitch mounts. Roof racks screw up your aerodynamics/fuel economy, bugs get splattered on your bike, most require that you remove the front wheel and you have to be careful not to forget your bike is up there when pulling into the garage. The trunk mounts require you to hang your bike off the back. I've read horror stories where wheels have fell off going down the interstate, not cool when some wheels cost $2000+ EACH. Then you have the wear and tear on the finish of the car and bike.

A good hitch rack solves all of those problems not to mention they are MUCH quicker and easier to load and unload.

If you find a way to put a hitch under you car i would be very interested in the same, i'm hoping to find a way to pull my motorcycle with me.

I had a trailer hitch on my '88 323 GT Turbo for my Kaw 650SX Jetski. The fabrication company in Cleveland used an xtra thick tongue (because of the length) and 2 bars welded on left to right with bolts going thru the bottom of the trunk. The bumper was not touched. I took it off every time I took it to the dealer for service and it wasn't that much work. The tongue was 3' long and over 2' was under the car. I think the company was JTI for John Trailers Inc.

Mine will be hauling my dirt bike so I think a hitch is the way to go. Not to mention I found some ski/snowboard racks that hook into a trailer hitch and that would make that easier too. they are also cheaper from what I have noticed. I am gonna contact the manufacturers just to be sure it will fit under that rear lip. I don't wanna screw up my back bumper. Right now my car is in such good shape haha
