Trading in the msp....check out what the mazda manager said.

Autox...you make no sense to me. Its not the car for you, well did you not test drive it? I mean everything you are complaining about you would have seen on a test drive? will you ever be happy with a car? I bet no. Next time i suggest a test drive, and dont give me the old "dealer wouldnt let me deal" Cause you know what, bring some cash in there, and appear serious and they would let you drive it. I am a 19 year old, I look 16, at first they told me i couldnt test drive it, but then i started talking, busted out a cashiers check i brought and all of a sudden the tables turned. So, before you buy that Evo, go test drive it, because im sure youll be complaining about that too.

If you own and drive a car every day for a few months, either you'll love the car or dislike it.

I don't like the driving position (too high), steering position, i don't like the pedel position (heels hurt in traffic), I hate the gear box (half the time it doen't go in to first. 2nd gear is rough going in), on even power delievery (sometimes it makes power, most of the time it hesitiates), no clutch feel (learned after 2hours a day in traffic), rattlebox after couple months, engine vibrates and shakes the steeringwheel, random highpitch screeching noise (not turbo), engine moves around too much and shakes the car in traffic. Theres bunch more i can't think of right now.
I used to look foward to driving my civic, taking longer routes so i can enjoy driving it more. With the msp, i take the short route so i wouldn't be in the car longer then i have to. I'd like to think of the msp as a pretty blond chic we all wanted in highschool, idea of sex with her is much better then the real thing.
I wanted to love the car, but i grew to dislike it. Its a free country i can buy something and later grow apart from it. Alot of things i learned to look for on my next car.

My question is how old are you?

March 11, 1979 is his bday according to the profile. so what 24? stilll in the age range for this car id say, he seems to be still attached to honda, so mazda will never impress him

I'm 24 years old.
I liked the car when i test drove it. Living in nothern va/DC area, i spend most of my time in traffic with the protege. The tranny blows in traffic, i'm starting to dislike it little more when i'm trying to get it in to 1st or 2nd gear since it doen't go in 50% of the time.
I originally was gonna get an STi/EVO/G35 coupe but i got a sucha great deal on the car i thought i can wait a few years, but since the car is so uncomfortable to drive in traffic I have to get sell it sooner then later.
You can either grow to love something or grow to dislike it. And yes i did tons of research before getting the car.
I'm not even complaining, I just want to sell the car for about 15k then i'll be happy.

Autox, I understand your point. but understand this NO MANUAL CAR IS EASY TO DRIVE, OR FUN TO DRIVE IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC.

I am not flaming, nor trying to fight with ya bro. Trust me, I understand your frustration, as I have had it with my last 2 cars. I have learned to accept the fact that I really, overall, not happy Mazda as a company, but can live with, and deal, and even like my MSP.

IMHO, you would be better off with a grand am automatic, or something along those lines of a mid size automatic car, if you have to sit in all that traffic.

my civic was so easy to drive in traffic even with a 3puck, because the tranny just clicked in to gears . The car was just fun to row the gears. The evo i tested felt very similer, gears flicked in to gates with a nice short shifts, good clutch feel.
The protege doen't have a first gear syncro coming from the mazda rep so its gonna not like going in to first. Also the shifter feel going from 1st to 2nd feels like the tranny wants to grind, its just very notchy. I drove a 03.5 and it didn't feel this bad but, since mazda says this is completely normal and the mazda rep says its normal that was the end of that.

Damn dude, you are only a few months older than me. I feel ya on the stop-n-go traffic, and your transmission. It can make my knees sore sometimes. That's why I work nights. :D Make sure the next car you get is the one you really want. F*ck all the nay-sayers!

Autox, I'm very familiar with the DC area and it is a constant traffic nightmare, if you spend alot of time on the beltway you're probably better off with an automatic. It gets really tiresome to come on this board and see people like you spew out negativity all day long. I understand you're unhappy and you've only said it about 20 times already. Suck it up and deal with it, because polluting the boards with negative garbage all day long is not going to help your situation. I hope this thread dies soon.

Stop making bad choices. If you get an Evo you will regret it. Get an STi

i'm not getting anything for 12k trade in. I'm keeping the mazda till it falls apart. I dont have 6k to just throw away.

OK, well, I'm sorry you don't like your car. Maybe you could use the money you were going to spend on a new one to make it better.

I love the car.... can't stand the whinning babies in the community tho

Think your Evo or Sti are gonna be completely flawless? Try again. Expect to be at the dealership once a month

You guys have to slow down and think a little bit before just bashing Mazda and the MSP.

1) A dealer will lie to you about the value of your car. $10,000 for a used MSP? I guarantee you won't be able to buy one for even $12,000.

2) The used car market sucks for all cars, not just the MSP. Look how many rebates all manufacturers are offering for new cars. So naturally dealers aren't going to just buy your car for $15,000 or whatever you want. Car manufacturers are going nuts.

3) Cars like the EVO are already selling at invoice. If they are so great, shouldn't they still be selling over MSRP? Like I said, it's the market, not the car.

uhm.....i'm not complaining about the reliablity or the performance of the car. I dislike how the car feels in the real world driving not test drive.
My last car was heavliy modified civic, honda challange spec suspension, tdo4-15G turbo, loud falken azenis. The car rattled like crazy, stiff as hell but it was fun to drive, excellent driving position, steering, no torque steer, excellent gear box. I had nothing to complain about that car, other then always worried about it getting stolen, being broken in to and finally it got too many miles on it i sold it.

Evo's are selling for invoice because they're clearing out for the 04 models. You still can't get the STi for under 30k atleast in nothern va.

Only read the first page of posts... what a bunch of BS this is!! This dude needs to grow up and stop crying about this car!!! If he hates it so much... WHY DID HE BUY IT???? STUPID ASS!!! sure, this car has some shortcomings but... all in all, it's a great car. Show me ANY car in which you're not going to lose a signifcant amount of value within a few months of buying it!! Thats just HOW IT IS!! Sucks I know... we all do. But don't come on here bitching about the car and how much it sucks just because you fukced up by buying a car you didn't like and now have to suffer the consequences.

why exactly do you think the MSP's are going down in price? Oh yeah something about the new economy size mazda models coming out.

Despite a few know it alls in this thread, most people know jackshit about the car industry on the sales portion.

The ideal that "dealerships cant get rid of MSP's" is bulls***. There are dealerships regionally in each area that have ungodly amounts of them. For every dealership that has 15 MSPs on the lot there are 15 dealerships that have 0 or maybe 1. This is done with every single car that is not done in a MASSIVE production run. Rx8's have the same thing.

If I go to my dealership and see 20 rx8's does that mean they arent selling? No. It means Bomaritto in st louis missiour is a huge ******* dealership that disperses its inventory to smaller dealerships.

As for estimates on our cars..... of course dealerships are going to aim low. They have to make money off of them. If the dealership said "we'll give you $16k" then they'd lose a s*** load of money when they resale. It surprises me how many people will believe a ******* used car dealer.

explain to me then, how was my car sitting on the lot for over a year??? with noone buying it??? In one of the biggest dealership in va??
