Track day at Texas World Speedway?

helmets are required from the past few times I was there. Best thing is to have passing limited to only straightaways and there should be a safety course and guides to show us the line and then work on that. After that, work on being smooth through every aspect. It's a lot of fun and as long as you guys don't take it too much as a competition, no cars or people will get hurt.

My cousin (Bliefurius) is also in. I will ask my friend with the SRT-4 tomorrow.

Cool Leo!

Hey that passing thing only on the streights is a great idea.

We go 1 at a time, staggered every 20 seconds until 6 are on (unless the first car crossed the finnish line). Take 4 laps then every car on the track comes off. Then start the next set. But the track guys might have that all lined out. Hey maybe we can get a dealer or 2 in on it. Maybe they would put up the prize stuff. I'll call the mazda place tomorrow it everyone is ok with it.

I also agree there should be no racing involved. Racing brings egos, and the last place for an ego is a track.

I`m in if I get a clutch in my car before the date. Otherwise I`d only be in for about an hour...

Helmets are required?! AWW MAN! Screw that... I`ll shave my head, paint it black and wear some sunglasses. Maybe I can get away without one.

Well, let's plan for this during spring break, this could be the best 1 yet. I agree with whoever said no actual racing, it's more about improving your own skills and knowing your own limit. I mean, heck, we aren't trying to be like Kimi Raikkonen or Michael Schumacher now, are we?

...don't answer that, I don't want to know...
but spring break would make this get together the best 1 yet.

BTW, let's set up a set day first so we don't get everyone's hopes up unless they can take the day off or whatever. Spring break would be perfect because everyone that's in school would be off and we could make it into a fun day at the track.

well im not sure if ill be here for spring break yet. and some schools springs breaks are different than others. mine is march10-march 20.

OT-

Cellerator, if you guys at TxTech still need ideas for FSAE sponsorship, PM me. We(UTA) are also hosting a design review this month that is worth checking out, a few of your guys came last year to present.

oh, will do. let's gather some info as to who can get off on what days and since it prolly won't be a weekend thing unless we get more than 15 people, we really need to set a date first.

Well I can not do a weekday. I'm a single dad so I have to plan around the weekends. And I would hate for some to do it on their springbreaks. Unless they want to. I my self you spend 200 for a weekend day. I mean to me that's not that much for the whole day at a real track.

How about april 4th or the 18th? That gives everyone time to get the money and if those that work weekends the time to plan to take off. This will also give us time to find out who really will go and how much money we can get. We will need to call the track and give them notice. If those days are open. Who wants to call the track to see what days it's open? If no one, then I can.

I'd prefer not spring break, as i'm getting my wisdom teeth out then and probably couldn't go. And i think my spring break is the same as MP3Architects.

Just get a date going for the track........so some of us can request off of work.

if we can get enough people, i say we do it on a saturday. sure its another 300 bucks, but if we get enough people, it will be chump change.

helmets required.....hmmm. i am void of a helmet. if these are required, what kind would serve well, and how much would it cost???

ditto on the no-racing-just-honing-skills idea

Ok I'll try to call tomorrow and see what days are open. And I'll see what rules if any they have. I'll post asap.

i thought this would be LATE march. i'm taking my family to disney world during springbreak, so if its between the 11th and the 18th, i'm out. any other time, i'm in.

Well, if that's the case, maybe set a day for sometime in mid may? That way we can really prepare to see if we could get a few instructors to guide us around the track and set up a schedule of the day. I remember they had a couple of class sessions just to get you familiar with what to do and after that, they guide you. If not during spring break, I'm out as well.
