TPMS, Where and How?

Anybody knows where the TPMS are actually located and how do they work?

Im asking because when i had my Mini, it had TPMS (OEM from the factory) on 2 of the 4 wheels (front left and rear right) and it was located on the ABS sensor, measuring constantly the rotation of the wheels...

I just found a beautifully inserted nail on my rear right tire, no warning came up (even though Ive seen the tire pretty low, without any air in them, twice in 4 weeks until I finally found the nail)

I really have to get it fixed... I dont really want to take it to the dealer unless theres no other way...

Please help! Thanks!

funny thing is it my not be the TPMS. I have MS3 07 stockers with winter tires and have the TPMS in them, checked my driverside front tire yesterday and it was at 28 PSI and not a warning about it. I think I remember the dealer telling me that it is suppose to notify you on the center display just like the service notification comes up for the oil change.

TPMS are on each wheel for 2008 and newer cars as standard. It was an option on older cars. For the Mazdas they are part of the tire valve.

BUT it will not report a warning unless the tire falls below I believe 5psi diff from the recommended pressure setting.

So if your recommended setting is 30, warning will go off at 24.

Well, I guess theyre not working then...

I found 2 nails already, on the same tire, not once did it come on and tire pressure was pretty much nought so, guess Ill be heading to the stealers pretty soon...

Thx for your replies anyways!
