TP/RP question on fitment

:
Mazdaspeed 6 GT
I'm looking at the greddy SE 70mm exhaust.. I was wondering if the 80mm/3inch TP/RP would fit it from corksport, UR, etc.

Or do you have to get the RP/TP with the stock sized exhause outlet like the corksport with the 65mm?

How are you using the acronym TP? Are you meaning downpipe -- DP?

It is common and preferable to run 3 inch dp/rp combos necked down to stock CBE by way of an adapter. No real reason to run 3" all the way back. If you use the proper adapter, there will be little to no added restriction. I'm not that familiar with the Speed 6, though. See signature.

The benefit of the 3 inch dp/rp is that when the exhaust gasses come right out of the turbo they are much hotter and hot gasses expand and take up more space. Thus, the larger pipe flows better. But, by the time you get downstream to the CBE, those gasses have cooled considerably and can flow very well through stock pipe diameter. The restrictions are primarily in the stock downpipe and the low flow converters.
