Toronto Auto Show Pix

Hi arkitek, long time no see! Did you decide to buy an MSP or are you holding off? Haven't heard from you since the test drive with dpmmsp.

Here they are. Sorry for the delay.
The lighting was pretty bad so the quality is of these pixes aren't all that great. Nothing you haven't seen before really.
Couldn't really do a direct comparison as the orange MSP is raised as you can see.
Personally, I'm still not too keen on the 2003.5 front grill having seen it in person. I can tolerate the spoiler though as it didn't look all that outragous as I thought.
Colourwise, I do like the grey but wasn't happy about the yellow. The stock P5 yellow is much better looking.
Gone is the interior orange stitching on the 2003.5 which is unfortunate.
I do like the fat nice looking shiftknob on the 2003.5 though which is the only thing it has going for it really.
Having said all that, I wouldn't mind at all picking up the Ti Grey 2003.5 though which suits my lowkey personality better.

Grimace,

I still have a deposit on the Orange MSP ever since through a broker friend. I've just came back from my monthlong trip to Vietnam to visit my family and it has changed my perspectives and priorities somewhat. This might mean that I'll be cancelling my order if I don't lose the $500 deposit. I was told too that the orange MSPs are coming the end of this month which is next week.

Or I just might snap out of it and get it anyway, if not with the orange now, then definitely the Ti grey in a few months.

Woot woot! Tanks a bunch eh!

I feel so much better about the grey. Add some fogs, tint the windows, a couple of coats of Zaino....done.

If I don't like the front lip when I see it, I'll just take it off, why not? Everything is painted underneath. But it looks good to me, but I keep imagining it with the fogs too.

Thanks again!

Thanks for the pics arkitek!
One question though - you said the orange stitching is gone from the 2003.5's. I thought it was replaced with yellow stitching for the 2003.5's. Can you shed some light on this?

Just look at the picture of the shifter he posted. You can see the seats in the background with yellow stiching and the shifter as well.

Yellow stitching it is. It doesn't show up prominantly as it does with the orange as I recall. The seat material or colour is different too as I recall. Just doesn't look as nice. No addition side bolstering which is too bad.

And with Ti grey, I can see it looking pretty bad-ass with tinted windows and the supposed gunmetal (darker silver at least) rim colour. All 3 were shown with the same 2003 silver rims by the way.

The grey one had the Sparco shifter in it but I wouldn't read too much into it.

interesting. So they did have all the same wheels. I was wondering this. A lot of the pics we have seen make the wheels look just like the 2003's. I guess that is why

I hope the rims aren't too dark. I don't like dark wheels.

The 2003 Sparco and 2003.5 MAZDASPEED shift knobs seem to be identical other than the inset clear logo bubble on top.

yup, that's what it looks like. the peddles however are indeed different. Which is fine to me, I wasn't really impressed with the Sparco ones. I actually like my mp3 ones a lot better so far. Just wish they had rubber inserts.

I'd like to know why they call the sets RX-7 fabric? Notice that on the pics of the sticker of the one ay the chicago autoshow?

checked out the T.O. show last night. The yellow car has yellow stitching in the seats. The titanium has grey stitching....not very visible. IMO, the titanium and the yellow both had the darker wheels, I disagree with Arkitek. I like the 2003.5 exhaust tip, it fits the cutout better than the 2003. The darker wheels were very nice. Just slightly darker IMO. the chin spoiler or lip is pretty cool on the 2003.5, lookes like a bolt on to me. I was lying on the ground having a look.

p.s. Who was on St Patrick Street behind Canada Life with an Orange Speed with different winter wheels and Avante dealer tags yesterday at 6 pm??? Funny seeing another, too bad i had just parked mine.

by the way, the titanium and the yellow both have the same metallic flake to the paint, really cool. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the colours, and the skirts/wing/exhaust are all a trade off IMO. To each their own .

p.s. I was a little disturbed with the # o orange anbd almsost orange cars i saw at the show. I hope it's not the new yellow.
I don't need to see a Spicy Orange Cavalier!

The 2003.5 MAZDASPEED shift knob looks a lot fatter than the 2003 Sparco in my eyes. No shifter sticker on the centre console too which is a plus.

The 2003.5 wheels did look slightly darker but I really thought it was more due to the lack of display lighting there. So I might be wrong there in saying they're all silver 2003 wheels.

i like the shifter in the 2003.5 as well, and the little dash of yellow in it is cool.

I really hope they are indeed the wheels, because as it is, I love it.
