TORONTO PROTEGE CLUB proudly presents this event, which promises to be our biggest event to date!
WELCOME new members and experienced members! This event is the first after our success @ Darknights 2002. During Darknights, one of our goals was to recruit more members, and we have certainly done that by increasing our active members by over 30 people. The club is huge now and those that came out to Wednesday's "mini" meet will have seen almost 25 cars .... a great sign that the members have been participating. Although we are still young as a whole (less than a year old), we are growing exponentially and we need vendors, dealers and Mazda Canada to take notice!
Poker Run Day is an event unlike any other. This time you won't be hanging out in a parking lot or sitting around in lawn chairs. Instead, you will be out cruising the streets of Toronto, locating checkpoints and picking up Poker cards. After a few checkpoints, we will all meet up at a final checkpoint and play some poker! Many PRIZES to be won and winner takes all!
I personally want to encourage all new members to come experience how much fun it is to be a part of this club. Even if you have never participated in a meet, you can come out and meet all the great people in the club. Don't miss out on this event!
POKER RUN DAY INFORMATION
When:
- Saturday, August 10th, 2002
- 11am - 4pm (approx.)
Where:
- Meeting/Starting Checkpoint: DOWNTOWN MAZDA located at Lakeshore and Jarvis.
Description:
- Members who want to participate will pay $10 entry fee and their name will be put into a ballot
- At the Starting checkpoint, the names will be drawn and will be put into teams of 3 or 4.
- These teams will cruise together to each checkpoint
- Each team will be starting at different locations so that there won't be mass confusion at checkpoints (eg. like 20 cars trying to get into the same checkpoint).
- 7 different checkpoints across the GTA
- Each checkpoint, repped by a club officer, hands out a card to each entrant
- 7 card straight poker, no wild cards
- After completing 6 checkpoints, the final checkpoint will be the Finishing checkpoint.
- If somebody wants to "drop" cards and "pickup" cards at the Finishing checkpoint, each card picked up will cost $1.
- The entrant with the best hand will win prizes and winner takes all!
What's given to participants:
- A piece of paper with all 7 addresses of the checkpoints
- No map is given, but it is recommended that you have one. Although not knowing where you're going and how to get there is the fun part.
GOALS
- To show dealers that we're a new, growing and serious car club.
- To achieve contact with these dealers and hopefully receive sponsorship like Avante has given us.
- To raise funds for promotion of the club
- To allow members to get a chance to know each other.
- To have FUN!
All the Officers of the club and I are looking forward to seeing all the members come out and have some fun. Summer is winding down to an end (way too soon! ), so don't miss this great opportunity to come out and have a great time!
