Mazda MP3 - Blue
I maxed my car out at 210 kmph (130 mph) on the highway. The revs where right in where I usualy get my power but it would not go any further. I'm just wondering if there's a governer on the car or has anywone been able to go faster with some mods and no change to the ECU. Or had the car reached it's max areodinamics, i highly dought that though seeing the old Camaro's can do 160 mph without effort.

Not that I go that fast on a regular basis... just a semi regular basis.

i did the same a little while ago in the MSP it hit 135 and then the throttle cut out and it slowed down a little then the throttle kicked back in until 135 again

DAMN!!!!!(omg) what the hell he did to that car????it cant be stock!almost 150 mph for a protege,it starts to be fast(shocked)

hmm wow Ive never took my Pro5 up past 100.
But I use to have a mini cooper that did 150 stock and that was only 1.6l.
I havent taken the evo up eather. I must be getting old.
My ninja did 180 till I changed the gearing for more accelaration now cuts out at about 160.

I dont know how acurate that is. It is very possible, but the tac. at 8+ grand seems very unlikely. Well who am I to say that, I've only reved my car to 7 grand, i dont think you can get it to 8 without serious mods. (like, pistons, crank, cams, valvs etc...)

Maybe the front end picked up off the ground and the Pro takes flight at 135.

(peep)

I would have to it on a dyno myself. I will say it, there is now way any protege (Sedan wagon or msp) all stock can rev to 8000 rpms. I also don't see it doing 150, but I didn't think my pro could pull off 130.

I've done 130 in my pro but I wasn't looking at the rpms and I had both hands on the wheel.

i followed blitzd one day...his msp cut off at 135 and i gained on him...so i know it was past 135, but i don't know how fast i was going.

Back when I just had CAI and free flow muffler I did 136mph and the speedo wouldnt move anymore :( . Needless to say that was 3 years ago when I was 19 and had a friend (200lbs easy) in the passanger seat and my EX sleeping in the back ( 105lbls if that ). I was heading to Houston and there was this LONG straight away so I just mashed it in 5th and kept it going until it wouldn't go no more. My girl woke up because the exhaust was really load and she saw how fast we were going and freaked (shocked). I've matured since then. I don't know how fast it will go now since i've added so much other stuff but it begs for more at 120mph where last time it started to craw.

I did a little gear calculator just for fun once, and 136 mph is close to where the engine supposedly redlines in 5th gear.

A bunch of local guys here have pegged the speedometer at 220 km/h (137.5 mph... know one guy who blew his engine from doing it too often and too long.)... but you can't do it on a stock car... there's not enough push from a 130 - 140 hp FSDE to push past the aerodynamic brick wall these cars hit past 210 km/h. You need at least 150-160 bhp to do it.

At 135 my MSP was at about 5k rpm like i said it just cut as the computer stepped in. It did want to keep going though

that member that said he did that 150 or whatever is lying cause he copied deadalus(i think it was him) and changed it a bit. deadalus(or whatever his name was the one who got there and had vid proof.

on that note, my car has gone to 99% the speed of light....yeah I know yall dont beleive me but I dont have to proof anything to you guys, so there.

Does the MSP have a longer 5th? (I'm pretty sure the parts number for the box itself is different from the regular FSDE) Or maybe its our local gearboxes. We're way above 5.5k rpms at the limit. Or maybe I'm remembering wrong... let me go out again and try to peg the limiter...
