TOP 10 Dyno Proven N/A & Turbo Proteges

the power differences are so different... cant wait for my KL now!! to boost? or not to boost? that... my friends is the true question...

My dynos are up here, but they haven't been updated... so far I've got 123 whp on the dynojet (a long-a$$ time ago), 141 on the Dynapack with the same mods (apparently, the calibration is wildly different) and over 140 on the Dastek with my current set-up (about 30 up from another guy (stock 142 bhp) on the same machine, and about ten more than a stock B16A)... but I don't know if this particular Dastek is calibrated 1:1 with the Dynojet, it's supposed to be, but we've yet to verify... I've seen some wild numbers out of other Dasteks... so don't add me to the list yet.

(this dyno is months old... since then, I've gotten new headers and am working on getting cam gears). Will do some tuning this weekend... and then run some numbers on the Dynojet downtown from the shop. I'm hoping to be hitting over 140 whp on the 'jet this weekend, and hopefully 145 or more after the cam gears are done.

I hope to see you up here someday soon, I hope to see lots of new people enter the top-10 on both, the more competition there is, the higher numbers that Protege's will end up with.

i should be on the list this spring, got the GT28RS just need to turn up the boost a lil and tune it.

how did Installsheild manage to put down 197whp or so on his N/A car??

hand crafted aluminium conrods, hand crafted pistons, more head work than any sane person would ever want to consider, insane fasteners etc all to support a redline over 8000rpm - search on his name, theres detailed threads on what was done. His motor was a project for his engineering class - he's been quoted as saying it'd be $10k worth of work if he had to pay for everything.

I'd love to know what was done to that motor to get to 197hp N/A lol...i dont care how long the list is, that's just insane

read my previous post :P

basically you name it, it was done - i believe it was pushing out 12:1 compression @ over 8000rpm - just about every part of the rotating assembly was custom or modified in some way to achieve the engine speed - the head work was utterly insane (reshaped combustion chambers to improve burn efficiency etc) - i think he's also mentioned he had one off custom cam shafts built, and a one off header. The only thing that i know of that wasn't custom was the intake manifold.

Its apparently so insane, that he has an external oil heater which is run off mains power when the car is garaged - as it just doesn't like starting cold. Its (basically) as far as you can push the motor with the stock stroke. More power could be achieved by de-stroking the motor (and thus allowing greater engine speed), assuming you could get the thing to flow. Do a search on his username - he had some epic threads which detailed what was done.

We should start noting the type of dyno and the actual dyno since we're comparing apples and oranges here.
