Took it to the track today :(

2 years ago when I still raced my P5 @ the track I consistantly pulled 16.8's on a 100% stock car with about 5000km's on it. So yeah definatly a problem with your shifting or launching.

17.175 at 79.0 MPH with a 2.31 60ft time. At the time I had a newly installed CAI and my drag radials. I need a bit more practice with the drag radials.

I went to the track late fall with some other board members and a couple P5's were running 16.8's and 16.9's....one ran a 16.7 stock with the driver being a first time quartermiler.

I've read tested 1/4 mile times ranging from 16.8 to 17.2.

I'm not either, it's just that the driver has just as much to do with the time as the car. Especially a stick car like the si. I know from experience, driving my friends Z28 at the track. I couldn't launch it for s***, I'd just spin. He ran like .5-1.0 second better than me in the quarter. And that was an auto car. There are just so many variables that effect times. Drivers, track, weather, altitiude, tune of the car. Heck, the si could have just been a stickered civic.

I know the e was a typo, just being my asshole self.

BTW, I can't really tell which of my cars are quicker. My 5 seems darn quick, but the civic runs damn nice also. (5 is low end, civic is top end) what does a stock 1.5L 16V DX run in the 1/4?

6000 feet

Did I mention that the drag strip that I went to is around 6000 feet in altitude?

I know that this makes a big difference compared to you guys that run at sea level.

I will research about this and let you know

and what exactly is your setup? im calling bs on this. Come out of no where saying you run 13.5 with turbo(very vague), and don't even give details on the setup.

hmmm have to agree on this one, 13.5 in a P5? (blah)

My last time to the track in my 99 si I ran a 14.1 at 99 mph but I was running 15.7 stock, and my 93 si is lightly mooded and I can run 15.3 all day. I does matter the driver but if the si he is reffering to was running high 17s that day then I would have to say that it was not an si. And yes I love my P5 but I would not take it to the track.

Hell, I beat a 97 GT at the drag strip with a 16.4 pass in my civic...

A new SI runs times around 16.4's...get on their site and have a look. It's kinda sad.

HEY BRYAN! I couldn't help but notice you don't post in the NM forums area anymore. There are three of us on the board, are you interested in meeting up? We're also planning a trip out to protegefest in april this year with someone from TX. Wanna go? PM me, please.

Using NHRA correction factors for 6000ft, your best run was a 16.5 @ 81.6mph. It makes a big difference up here man.

505zoom.....that's sounds much better. SEE GUYS/GALS...HEHEHEHE that's not so bad.

Where r u at in Alb? My parents live down in Taylor Ranch, so I go there quite often.
I'm going down to the track next Sunday with a couple of guys from Taos, and from work. They don't drive Mazdas, but it'll be cool.

Let me know if you want to go. that goes for you to rt66protege

NHRA altitude correction factors
Below are the NHRA Altitude Correction formulas for all sportsman categories for NHRA member tracks that are classified as altitude facilities:

NHRA ALTITUDE CORRECTION FACTORS
Comp, S/C, S/G, S/ST
Convert to Sea Level Convert to Altitude
Track Name Alt ET MPH 1/2ET 1/2MPH ET MPH 1/2ET 1/2MPH

DIVISION 5

Albuquerque wasn't listed, but it's around the same altitude. But I still have figured out how to convert my times to sea level times.

Anybody???
