Tone Controls on mp3 HUs

Since I had to wait a day for the dealer to locate my 3ST, they loaned me an 05 sedan to use till today. Noticed that the radio/CD HU had bass, mid, & treble controls, which I really dug for an OEM unit. Today I got my 06 hatchback with radio/CD unit (have ordered 6 CD /mp3 changer), and it only has bass & treble controls.
Does anyone have the mp3 unit who could tell me if it also had midrange tone controls?

Although they look the same, the '06 Mazda3 headunit is completely different from the '04-'05 headunit, and the loss of mid-range controls on the '06 is one of the differences.

craaap!!!!!!!!!!!!! Another factory OEM HU "optimized" for overblown bass response & screechy treble. The mid control really helped ameliorate some of it. How hard would *that* have been to just leave alone.... (jerkit)

wow... thats wierd...?? wonder if it has to do with the bose upgrade option?

I think the Bose upgrade is different that what I'm getting. I passed on the "package" just wanted the HU, not the moonroof combo. That is why I thought that the 3 way tone controls would cary over to the 2006 I've seen other threads where ppl got a single disc cd/mp3 oem player. Wonder if that one has the midrange tone.
Damn this is one sweet car, aside from that! & to think I had my sights set on a Scion xB.. (hah)

way more betterer (i was edumacated well eh??) then an xb by far, i was just thinking to make things easy they may use the same HU for the bose system just add the amp and speakers so for the bose to sound right they may not have a mid adjust pt...?? thats the only thing i can think of and i pulled that way outa my ass so who teh **** knows??

lol...well, I guess I will find out once the HU arrives at the dealer in a few days.
My Fjord Focu$'s oem HU was sooo bad, had to set bass at like -6, treble -5 to get it to sound 1/2 way decent. Do these car mfgrs ever listen to the oem audio s**** they are selling? Perhaps being an Olde Farte, my ears just don't appreciate huge gobs of flabby overblown bass, glass shard treble & missing midrange...

its pretty bad for sure.... thats why i ripped out all my speakers sound deadened the doors and dropped in some boston accoustic Z6 speakers.... i need to do a bit more sound deadening but the midrange on these things is amazing!!! can't wait for the summer time so i can finish up my audio set up....

Played around a bit more with settings today, got it to at least be "listenable". Will see how it sounds after changer HU dropin. Not many options at this point - am pretty much tapped out for extra $$ for the forseeable future after this purchase. Ah well...

The focus I had for a rental had BY FAR the worst sound quality ive heard. When the focus blew up, the neon I got was actually pretty impressive, I liked the stock system in that. Nothing beats putting time and effort into a whole new system though, because the rewards of hearing music comming from YOUR setup is sweeet.

I finally pulled out the Ford oem HU & replaced it with a Sony unit that played mp3s too & had a much better power section in it. Even w/ stock speakers, difference was nght & day.
Gotta have good toons in my car!
