If you were to be looking for a car, and someone had cut the door panels to make room for a midranger speaker, would you offer them less? I am thinking about doing this to my car, but I am worried that if\when I sell it, It will be a negative thing. I know car audio buffs would appreciate it, but would a normal buyer? I didnt want to ask this in the audio forum on here because those people are all audio nerds ( (thumb) ) and would like to have it. I am always wary of doing mods like that, which cannot be removed without a nasty looking hole in the panel....

do it. you already have a badass sounding system, and this would only make it better!

and your sub's too heavy. give it to me.

:)

even form an audionerd standpoint there's a certain level of what YOU would do as opposed towhat someone else would do. What exactly in the door panels are you looking to cutup? Honestly for anythign midrange I'd personally think anything in a door would be silly. ALL about the kickpanels...

It all really depends on execution. I'd generally say that if you do it cleanly and tastefully it shouldn't detract form value at all, but if they're say speakers you want to take with you when you sell the car ther emight be a bit of a "rigged" look to it if you slap something else in there.

Modifications in and of themselves don't add value, so if you do it, do it clean so that you can imply that it has added value. As you said, only another audiophile/head would see the value.

i voted no. nearly all my modifications are removable and I like to keep it that way. Plus you can probably do something that is totally removable, like kickplates...

Of course, if you do it, you can always get replacement door plastic bits that don't have giant holes cut in them, or trade yours for stock - I'm sure someone on this board would trade you if your mod is done tastefully and you need to return to stock later on.

I dont think they would last long in kicks, my friends are horrible about breaking stuff in my car... unless I had a really rigid grille for them

I'm not gonna officially votevote, but I'd say no.If you're going through the effort of fabbing stuff up, do kicks, and just put grilles on your speakers. firstoff it'll sound WAY better, and beyond that, you can do it without any form of hacking whatsoever.

No,
Uless you can make it look stock.

As much as Idon't like most stock stuff, the doorpanels just look cheesy if you have the freebie grills from the speakers tacked onto them. I don't care what brand you have, it will stick out visually. If you are going to fab something, make it look good as or better than stock.

IMO
