DUDE you can have a custom 3" exhaust done for the same price...just dont get stainless....you cant see the s*** anyways and if you live in GA you dont really half to worry about salt from snow.

True (what does the salt do?)

Still want to know what peoples thoughts are or their gains. I want one just making sure it is worth it or wait til FMIC comes out.

It will rust your car. The gains are gonna be the same....its pretty much up to you.....a turbo back will sound cooler and give the turbo alot of room to breath.

Well looking catback right now. 3 inch down pipe comes later.

How do you guys feel about the Magna flow catback? Isn't it 2.5 don't I want 3, which system is better?

I would suggest you go for the catless downpipe first, it gives you more gains than the exhaust and/or the TMIC. The TMIC is around 20whp/tq...dont know about exhaust but dont think it will go over 20/20. Catless Downpipe does a 30/30!!

Can I still pass emissions tests with a catless down pipe?

I know I will have to remove it to take it to the dealership for issues because that will void the warrenty.

YOU WILL NOT PASS EMISSIONS WITH A CATLESS DOWNPIPE.....

Can you get a High flow cat for the DP? which gains more
Cat
Highflow cat
No/cat

The exhaust is the first thing I would do and there is a FMIC out already.
Please post a link. To my knowledge, there are no FMIC available for any 2.3L DISI engine.

Not true. Use the anti-fouler trick or anything that ensures no CEL and you will still pass emissions in any state that does not use a sniffer. In MD they only hook into the OBD-II port and check for emission CELs, thats it.

i wonder what happens if some one from florida that does not pass the emmissin test goes to GA...i mean, can you get in trouble? after all FL doesnt have emm. tests...cant blame ya right?

Anyways, there's a trooper in my shop that has an STi pumping 500 ponies...the car has a catless dp as well...no limiter...an backfires...LOL...nuff said.

From my understanding this car, much like my previous car has 2 cats in the exhaust sytem.

1 is located directly after the turbo- this can be removed with a catless down pipe. A down pipe with a high flow cat can also be used.

The second one, which I consider the Main cat is located down stream in the exaust system. Located below the shifter area. This is where you would put your "cat-back exaust".

If you remove the first cat with a catless down pipe you will still have your main cat in place. This might allow you pass emissions, if you have the thing that fools your cars computer ( aka some resisters after the O2 sensor). My previous car eliminated the "pre-cats" with open headers, but I still kept my main cat in place. With this set up, emissions were passed.

If this really is your first mod and your not familiar with cars, I dont recommend doing the down pipe. Go with something easy like a cat-back exhaust or a new Top Mount Intercooler. Both require only basic knowlege, they are easy to get to and provide results.

You wont have to worry about emissions or check engine lights.

if your worrying about the check engine light i saw on a site that ATP has developed a part for there 3" catless downpipe that tricks the sensor, but th eonly problem is they say its only 80% chance of working

removing the cat on a street vehicle can get you a fine no matter if you have emissions or not (i live in florida). and most emissions have a visual inspection along with sniffer and obd check, and you wont pass visual or sniffer without a cat.

I removed the second cat on mine after the O2 Sensor when we did my custom 3inch and have had no issues and since the it was after the O2 it would not cause an issue.
