2003 Black Mica MazdaSpeed
So, I was talking to a friend of mine who works at the Chevrolet branch of the ONLY dealership here in town that sells the MSP. He can't cut me any bargains, but makes sense to toss the comission to your friends anyways, right?

Well, I asked him to talk to their resident Mazda Manager or whatever about when I could get a Titanium 2003.5 model & he suggested that I might want to stick to the Black or Orange, saying that at least part of the reason for the current delays is that Mazda is having some problems with the paint on the new colors?
Anybody else heard this?

They didn't think they would get the 2003.5's until mid-summer anyway, and I'm looking to buy in a couple of weeks, so that wouldn't work for me anyway though.

I don't know why they would have trouble with the paint, in Austrailia the sp20 (P5 here) is in the same color, and the familia (protege) in Japan also comes in that color...gotta be something else. But hey what do I know, ....

bulls***.

There's 350 of them sitting in bc right now along with 350 yellow. If any color is going to be hard, it's going to be yellow.

Grey is out in Australia, as well, on all the new miata's this year in the us and Canada.

Their delayed because of the orange ones not all done, and because of the piping that originally delayed the orange ones. Their supplier can't make the pipes fast enough.

The only other thing that could delay the speeds, is the launch of the rx-8 which is far more important then the speed.

I'm hoping you guys in the states do get them soon as I want some good pics of a finished titanium speed.

So, while I doubt it, I hope it is two weeks.

My dealer says he will have my titanium in 2 weeks.

2 weeks would be about perfect, but nobody at the dealer here thinks they are going to have them anytime soon.

What options would there be for getting a more direct word from Mazda - i.e. going over the dealer's head?

<shrug>

oh well, if they don't have one in 3 weeks I'm going black

Walk straight into MAzda HQ with dynamite strapped onto your chest and tell them to tell us the truth or else

That should about do it.

Anyone down there close to where they bring the cars in from Japan? A dock, port, warehouse or something? See if there's a shipment of Speeds in. If the release really is two weeks, or even a month, they should all be sitting somewhere down there.
