hey guys, i just ordered some wheels and tire combo but i had specified 225/40/17. Then this morning i get a call from tirerack saying that they do not recommend that size because its a racing tire. So now im stuck with 45s which is not bad but i was kind of put off by the call.
what do you guys think?

It depends, what tire is it? If you always run on hot dry roads.... If you want that size wheel, find a different tire for it.

im getting the kumho asx. im up in vermont so the roads sre seldom hot and dry. i worry more about wet traction cause most roads have really bad grooves and water accumulates there fast.

Don't know why they'd call it a race tire; it should be okay for your area. Maybe they were refering to the size and thought it would rub? You might call back to consult them again, and talk with a different person.
