Tire Wear

Alright, so i need some suggestions.
I am beyond pissed right now. I have to get my car inspected per state law; shouldnt be a problem as it is a brand new car with 9k miles on it. so i thought.

it wont pass inspection cause the goddamn tires are bald!!!! WTF!
how does a car with 9k miles has worn out tires?

Should i be b!tching out the stealership and demanding new tires? no, i never been to a track; no i dont street race, and no i dont go out spinning my wheels around town. just regular driving.
So my #1 concern right now is passing inspection, but looking at longterm; this car is a lease and i have to bring it back next year. whats the deal with the tires? according to lease, car should be returned with no more than normal wear and tear. well apparently normal wear for this car means bald tires. will i be expected to pay for tires before returning it? if thats the case i will be pissed.

FYI. this is my second mazda 3. I had an 04 for about 3 years. sure, i had 3 sets of tires for it, snows, summers, and the stockers. the stockers i drove for about 8k miles before buying summers for it. they were not even close to the wear on this tires; did they just put cheaper crappier tires on them now? this is just ridiculous.
any ideas/suggestions/comments are welcome.

my boss has a mercedes, he has a tire plan that replaces tires due to wear, road hazard etc. its only available for some car makers but it wouldnt hurt to ask, he leases his car.

never heard of it... doubt they would give it to me now but i'll ask next time.

bump

any ideas where to find some cheap tires quickly? obv i could order but need to get this car inspected ASAP. Im gonna look at Costco but not a very good selection there...

maybe I missed it, but I'll post the question:

Rotate much?

I have 17k on my tires, but the tread is still at ~%35 or so above the wear bars. I think a lot of wear can come from exactly what you drive on, what materials are abrading your rubber. Vegas desert roads are a bit slicker then the rough aggregate of the mid-west. This may cause the wear!

Also, alignment, or lack of it, will definitely cause wear.

search craigslist in ur area, i found 3 good tires when i got my new rims, they were used with plenty of tread on them and i paid 15 bucks each...search for local used tire shops in ur city...do some research, it shouldnt be hard to find

im in bumf*ck vermont man. our craigslist is lucky if it get 20 new posts a day lol.

Worry about tpms? Why just let whoever puts the tires on 4 u know ahead of time you have it.

i am really not paying full price for new tires and wheels.
one of my options is to put just tires (no worries about tpms); the other which i prefer is to just get steel wheels and winter tires so i can then do my tires myself. the question is if i have to worry about TPMS with the steel wheels; never had tpms before so i dont know.

Also i would like to know what it involves so i dont get taken by some jackass at a tire shop.
