After visiting tirerack.com it seems there are two options to replace the shiity stock tires with all-season tires. Dedicated winter tires are not an option - No storage space.
The options for the 205/50-17 are the Avon Tech M550 A/S and the
Kumho ECSTA ASX. I know there a few lovers for the Kumho's around. Now, anyone in love with the Avon? I want to make the best investment in tires for all-season.
So, some questions;
1. How are these tires in snow, say 3-4''?
2. How about rain?.
3. Thread life so far?.
4. Are they both years ahead of stock goodyears in all levels?
5. Anyone using other all-season tires on their 17''? Which ones? I saw these on mavis Continental ContiTouringContact CV 95. Any comments?
Now something I don't understand:I've read threads about using other size tire, such as 215/45-17 or 215/50-17 on stock 17'' rims. Are these sizes right?. What are the advantages of using these tires?. I thought wider tires were not better for winter. Could someone clarify this, and if other size tires should be better for winter than the Avon Tech or Kumho?
Thx.
