Tire fix places? Fender Rolling?

Hey do you guys know anybody that can fix tires? And if its worth fixing? Also does anybody know a place where I can go to roll a fender or hell anybody wanna help me do it that has done it before?

Here is the post from my other thread explaining what happend:

I need everyones opinion and advice. I recently hit a big pot hole with my rear wheel and didn't think much of it until today when I noticed a big crack in the tread and side wall of my rear tire.

I can only assume it was caused when I hit that big pot hole. The offset of my wheels are only 45 so I have a little rubbing of the wheel to the fender in the rear, but only if people are sitting in the back. So my guess is when I hit the pothole it rammed the wheel in to the fender and ripped it. Based on this picture do you think its dangerous? Is something like this fixable? They are still fairly new Kumho Ecsta tires. I checked for leaks and there doesn't seem to be any and I just drove 40 miles today.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Its not your fault man don't worry about it....i'm just worried if the sucker blows while i'm driving on the freeway or something

dude do you remember off hand what tire it was? I think they are Kumho Ecsta 711's.
Would you know? The size is 205/40 R17 right?

don't bother trying to fix it. Once the sidewall has been damaged there is no way to fix it. buy a new tire. G.L.

dam...that was what I was afraid of....maybe I should check how deep it is? or maybe it won't matter since now that there is a rip it will only get bigger I assume......s***

duct tape!! haha nah just replace dude! you dunno what could happen on the freeway!

Did you consider having your rims milled to the proper backspacing? I've heard of this being done.....sadly i don't know who, when, or how. but if you could have it done this would solve all your rub issues.

If you decide to go this route, let me know who you get to do the milling.

Yea thats my exact problem...the "who, where, and how much".
If I find out anything i'll let you know.

Hey does anybody sell Kumho tires locally in Hawaii? Or is tire rack my best bet? I was looking at it again and actually it doesn't look too deep. But i'm assuming it'll just get worse with time and them "blamo!" blow out on the freeway and my ass in the wall.......

Well I found out that Sonic motorsports has a "Fender Rolling Machine" and that they charge $40.00 per fender to roll. I guess before I do anything I should get this done first.... I think its cheaper than griding down the wheels and I don't know anybody that does this anyway...... dam this sucks..... maybe i'll just bang away with a hammer?

my body shop taught me this: take the wheel off and then take a dowl and go in the inside and hammer the dowl lightly because if you hammer it to hard the paint will chip.

much cheaper

I emailed Kumho to see if they would do anything about it since I am shocked that one pothole could do this to a tire....dam cheapo tires man...I never had this type of problems with Yokos or Bridgstones or Pirellis.

This is their reply:

Sir,

Unfortunately, your Kumho Ectsa 711 is not covered for impact break which is primarily caused by hitting a pothole or a curb. This would be categorized as a Road Hazard and the Kumho Ecsta 711 does not carry any type of Road Hazard warranty.

Thank you,

Maybe I can make a claim with the state....I've done it in the past for hitting a pothole and damaging a rim. After 4 months the state sent me a check for over $1,000.00 to replace my wheels!! hehehe...

On another note...anybody know a place locally that sells Kumho's? I think Larry's in waipahu does but I don't trust them...

Ok I found Tire Service and Supply in waipahu. They can get the same tire within a week. $82.98 + $15.00 for balancing and mounting. Sounds fair.

But before that...gotta roll dem fenders....s*** I might just take a chance and do it on my own.....$80 to roll fenders is steep if I need to buy a new tire too!!

Any advice on rolling for those who have done it? anyone?
