hey guys, im new to this forum and I just bought myself a 2002 black MP5. im very happy with it so far and right now im looking to do some cheap mods for now. so far i just painted my rear emblems flat black and now im thinking of tinting my tail lights. so i was wondering wut a good percentage of tint there is to go for. and yes i have searched this forum, but havent found any good pics of what it might look like. :D

thanks

rockblocker, blue batmobile, niteshades. Search those words and I'm sure you will find an answer. They are all common things people use to tint headlights, tailights, and foglights.

for a vinyl overlay bluebatmobile is your best bet.

rockblocker uses a very thick protective material, which is ideal for fogs and headlights, but pointless on tailights unless your zoom zooming around town in reverse going 80 mph

If you want vinyl....go with bluebatmobile. I have a few of his products and they are awesome.

If you do use nite shades, I highly recommend VERY LIGHT COATS. I would also give them a couple of coats of clear as the nite shades can look dull when drying.

With this said you also have to think about how visible your brake lights will be to the drivers behind you.

i sanded my stock tailights down a little and sprayed with some transparent (spray paint in a can) and went over it a couple times. i like mine! couple shades darker than stock

ive heard this is illegal and if you get rear ended its automatically your fault because you messed with the light output? I dont know for sure but thats why i only tinted my reverse and turn signals. Even so, i could still have the same problem assuming thats true

^ your turns and reverse dont come on when your braking =)

this is what the rockblocker vinyl looks like. it looked bad when i put it on. its very hard to apply properly if your not experienced

^im in the middle. this is the bluebat overlay that he made for me. its smoked, but not too dark. you can still see the reflectors. so i know i still have good light output. but still flows well with the rest of my car.

yea that definately looks good with your car, i think i might try and go with a thin coat of niteshade spray, cause it will look better with my black car. ill post pics as soon as i get it done.

I get what your saying but i wouldnt be suprised if it would still be my fault even though my turn and reverse are tinted. Theres all kinds of crazy laws

heres my black P5 with two light coats of nightshades...
crappy lighting and crappy camera, but they are both the same darkness

thanks, and you might want to put a clear coat or two on for a glossier look. mine are kinda dull in person, but i like that look so it works for me.
