Not sure if everyone is aware, but currently there is no law for how dark you can have your windows tinted. There is currently a bill in the state House that has been passed to reenact the law. It still hasn't been passed by the senate. The law will limit tint to 32%, again.

what's funny is that "multipurpose passenger vehicles" are excempt from the law. It took me a while to find out what "multipurpose passenger vehicles" were. It means: meaning motor vehicles with motive power, except trailers, designed to carry ten persons or less that are constructed either on a truck chassis or with special features for occasional off-road operation. In other words, SUVs are not subject to the tint law.

I'm thinking if I get my windows tinted before the law passes, and keep the reciept in my car, I should be ok with a 20% tint all the way around.

That is going to be my question what happens if your windows were tinted before the law gets changed in fact what is worse is i tinted my own windows at work so i cannot even get a reciept

I posted on your other thread, Rogue, but Shadow: I'm in the same boat as you. I don't have a receipt b/c my boyfriend and I did them at a family member's auto shop.

Sucks for us!!! Although I doubt it'll matter....cops will probably give someone a ticket anyway.

Roll down ALL your windows before the cop gets to your car and be nice as hell.

Exact words of my brother. Thanks John.

"Generally ex post facto laws(those that came after) cannot punish prexisting conduct, but since the conduct is ongoing I have no idea."

He suggested I ask a GA lawyer.

Just turn your P5 into a rally P5 then it's occasional offroad operation.:p

i thought about that, but it has to be on a truck chassis

i was going to do the AWD conversion...

unfortunately when I asked SoundProof to do my car in 20% they made very clear that there isn't a tint law right now but when the tint law comes back into effect it'd be around 30% (making mine illegal). I asked if the law would be omitted to me since I'd have a receipt that it was done during the no tint law time. They said that the law more than likely would apply to having the law at that particular time and I should expect a few hassles from it and tickets.

So lets just hope cops become really nice :)

Or the end of the world , and only us with darker tint will be protected from the radiation and crap.
Then we'll make our own laws!!

So from what i read

29.5% tint is legal.

(2) Which has material and glazing applied or affixed to the rear windshield or the side or door windows, which material and glazing when so applied or affixed reduce light transmission through the windshield or window to less than 32 percent, plus or minus 3 percent, or increase light reflectance to more than 20 percent.

From what I heard on the news it won't matter when you got your tint because the law will affect cars that aren't even registered in Georgia, meaning that if you are a student and your car is registered in Florida and you are in GA you will still get a ticket.

I guess that also means if you're just driving thru GA on a vacation the cops can stop you and give you a ticket. That's dumb.

Any idea about what time the law will take into effect if it were to be passed?
