Timing... help please

2002 Mazda Protege ES
So the protege service manual tells you exactly how to get the motor (in-time). What im not sure of is that is that all that needs to be done or are there more steps to timing the motor once its back in the car. I have heard people mention timing lights and what not but wasnt sure if there was anything else involved more then getting the cams and cam gears in the right position along with the crank. Thanks
 
No timing light needed. Line up the timing marks on the cams (in the manual).

The cam position sensor and the crank sensor tell the ECU all it needs.
