Timing cover gasket oil leak

I purchased a used 2006 Speed 6 about 8 months ago. I took it in this weekend to have it inspected and the technician noticed the faint smell of oil.

I took it into the dealer to have them look it over since it had been taken there by the previous owner and they were familiar with the vehicle history. The dealer said when the car we given a full inspection before being sold to myself, they did notice oil "residue" on the timing cover, but that it was nothing major.

Today, they basically said the same thing — that it isn't a leak yet, but it's more of a "seepage". They think it has been going on for a while now, probably well before I bought the car. I haven't noticed any strong smells or any leaks on the pavement or in the engine bay. This car is my daily driver, so while I do drive it frequently, I don't put too many miles on it. The dealer recommended a valve cover gasket and timing cover gasket replacement to the tune of nearly $750.

I got a second opinion over the phone from a local repair shop my family uses, and the owner there said that the seepage is fairly common and shouldn't be much of an issue right now. He said if it gets worse, to the point I can really smell or see something, to bring it in.

I just wanted to check in with you all and see if this is something I really need to be worried about at this point, or if it is something I should keep an eye on down the road.

Thanks in advance for any advice.
