so my timing belt cover kinda snapped a little bit at one of the bolts, and its rubbing on a belt pulley. my mechanic said its no big deal because its not damaging the belts. but i want to know how hard it is to change it, when he looked he said id have to pull the valve cover, anyone else know what else? lemme get a pic hold on

EDIT:

if it were me i would just cut the corner off thats rubbing. wont hurt anything...

I agree. Its a cover, as long as it not rubbing anything after trimming and it stays put....No Harm no FOul.

alright sounds good, i know its only to keep the dirt out which is why i knew it wasnt a big deal, now i have to get a dremel or something to grind it down, and im gonna take the belt of for safety lol, that thing is apaint, pretty sure thats the ALT belt. F

I had to replace mine, if you haven't done the timing belt order one before you replace the cover. I ordered the covers from rockauto and the lower one didn't fit because the timing marks hit the crank pulley so you have to get the part from Mazda and it's over 100 for both. The aftermarket upper one fits though, and both covers from rockauto are cheaper than just the upper is from the dealership.

timing belt was done ~10k miles ago by previous owner, have receipt, is it really going to be a lengthy process as is the tbelt?
