Time to Sell

2013 CX-5
I am getting ready to sell my 2013 CX-5. Going on military orders so trade-in is not an option. Loan balance is approximately KBB private party value.

I have never sold a car this expensive before, and I am a bit leery of just putting it out there on craigslist. I usually drive a car for ten years and then unload it. So getting rid of something that still has value is a new one for me.

Any specific hints/tips/etc that any of you can share? Especially good places to post the car for sale?

I sold a 2011 F-150 Platinum on eBay about a year ago. Got a fair but not great price for it. The selling process went fairly smoothly.

If all else fails get a quote from CarMax. If you don't have the plain Jane version and relatively low miles you may be able to get a decent quote. At one point I was considering trading mine for an Infiniti FX35 or Speed6, they made a decent offer. In the end I decided I had already invested a good amount and I would be trading for a 5+ yr old car (although I really like the idea of a kitted fx35 with a vortech supercharger would have spent more by the time I was done with it LOL) .

Carmax never hurts, but I've gotten multiple crappy offers from them before, but it gives you an idea of what you could get if the time comes and you really have to dump the car. Best bet for now is to post it up on AutoTrader and other sites like that and see how many bites you get. You also could always see if a Mazda dealer would be willing to buy it off you to add to their used fleet.
