STi racecar, Evo street car
Well I did it. Today I drove 6 hrs to Northeastern Pennsylvania and picked up an Evo 8. I still have my MSP but it should be sold by the end of this week. I'll def miss it but I'm just done with wrong wheel drive and a crappy platform. I dumped too much into the MSP and never made it over 200whp

This Evo already has a lot done to it so it's a real blast to drive. The exciting stuff includes: Buschur 3065 kit, Turbosmart external wastegate, Shepracing tranny, Exedy Twin Disk HD clutch, Buschur 3" exhaust, AMS intercooler, Logic Performance IC pipes, Forge bov, HKS 272's, HKS cam gears, ARP head studs, Walboro 255lph fuel pump, AMS 880cc injectors, SMC Methanol kit.

It's tuned on ECUflash which I don't think I should have too much trouble with. I read up on it a lot and it looks like fun. It's currently set for 21 psi, no meth, but pulls like crazy and I love the no lift shifting. You shoulda seen the grin on my face the whole way home.

edit: By the way, I plan on selling those wheels and getting RPF1's or just throwing the stockers I got on there. I'll post proper pics if anyone is interested in the RZ-5's

Enough jabbering, here are some pics:

WTH is the difference with the Evo 8 and the 9...I dont see a bit of difference.
Nice ride BTW.

2003-2005 were Evo 8's, 2006's were Evo 9's. They have a slight difference in front and rear bumper's, wheels, some other little things. The big difference is all Evo 9 engines have MIVEC, simply put its Mitsubishi VTEC.

congrats man, Im looking into this myself soon as well

hows the ride on those seats? thats the one thing that stops me from wanting an 8 is the fact that the 9s seats are EXTREMELY comfortable

Congrats on the purchase, seems like allot of folks are moving on from the Pro's to either STI's or Evo's. Def agree I would sell those rims and either go factory or get a better set of aftermarket.

You should run the EVO against you pops STI lol

The tail lights are stock, I got a spare set and plan to paint them to look identical to MR tails (black housing with amber side)

The seats are veeery comfortable. Long trips in the MSP, STi, or Mountaineer my back would start to hurt or leg fall asleep or something. The Recaro's just feel a lot better. I'm pretty sure the seats are identical in 8's and 9's, unless you get the SSL package on a 9 (sun, sound, leather) which comes with leather Recaro's instead.

I was actually thinking about going to VMP this Friday since it's an open test/tune. I'm sure I could convince my Dad to come, but honestly he'd have no chance against me.(evil)

Thanks for all the compliments guys.

Congrats on the purchase..

There are a few differences.. Like he noted up top, 03-05 were Evo8's and 06 was the Evo9.. The 9 came with an updated front bumper, taillights, etc.. The main difference was the Mivec engine like he said and also a 10.5" turbine housing instead of the 9.5" on the Evo8's..

aweseom car :) i would trade my ms3 for one if we had em up here in canada.. i have to wait a year or two to get a evo x (dont wnat to buy first year).. once again nice choice!!!

HUH- I use to own a Mountaineer and logged several 13-15 hour non-stop drives in it. I thought the seats were very comfortable. Can't say that I'd pass up a set of Recaros though.......

Nice EVO too, BTW.
