Tim The Tint Man

Alright I'm getting my windows tinted and a few of my freinds suggest Tim. I have no clue what his last name is, his shop is in Maple Grove (somewhere north metro) if I remember correctly. Any one gotten a tint job done from him?

how dark are you planing to get? here in houston i did limo tint visor and rears with darkest legal tint on the front sides for 175 flat...

Either 35 or 30%. The legal limit here though is 50%.

i think i got 35 in the fronts and like 10.... in the back and rear windshield... i didnt ask what the numbers were it just got done.

Done and done... if you can get a lifetime waranty and its good workmanship (see other clients and their tint) I say $140 is an awesome deal

I used to work for MN State Patrol as an IT guy, but went on ride-a-longs all the time (still do), just keep in mind anything darker than 50% is nearly an instant ticket if not warning.

I used to work for MN State Patrol as an IT guy, but went on ride-a-longs all the time (still do), just keep in mind anything darker than 50% is nearly an instant ticket if not warning.

See this is what I've heard, but I have a bunch of freind with 30-35%, and they have no problems at all. I talked to a Carver County Sheriff and he told me the same thing too. The thing I really want to know though is how come it is 50%? From what I have heard Suburbans are 30%.

But yeah I'll post all the info up once I get it myself.

With my old car an 02 Protege LX I got a ticket for tint. I had 35% in the front and 20% in the rear windows. The cop put a light measuring device on the front window and it read 26% and he wrote me up for a I think $110 ticket. I only had it tinted for 4 months before I sold it. It looks sweet just try to be conservative.

you guys want a legitimate tinter that I have used on 3 of my vehicles and Boomergt has used on 4 vehicles of his including his MSP?

I would recommend 35 all around, or 35 on the sides, and 20 on the rear glass

The rear panels of SUVs are usually 20% from the factory. I ran 35 on my stratus for over 3 yrs without issue. I run 35 on my Z without issue - even in chicago area where any tint on the front windows is illegal. I have 30% on my new Xterra an haven't had any issue. That said, I prefer the 35 to the 30

like with anything, there is risk involved. I have owned cars over the limit, I just wanted you to know what the law states...which in MN is something to the effect of: no window on a passenger vehicle (pickup truck rear windows are excluded) can have tint darker than 50% (+/-3% for testing error), unless factory installed. Also no front window strip is allowed.

But don't go by my words, look it up, its online. I think the statute is M.S. 169.XX
