Ticket for front license plate??

ive recieved at least 10 no front license plate tickets in the 13 years ive driven. it just happens. and i always have used the double sided tape thing as well. i even went on the freeway with the plate taped to my front bumper and it held strong at 80+mph. living in CA i just live with it. oh yeah i still have no front license plate!!!

last time i got a no front plate ticket i zip tied it to the mesh, drove around the corner got the ticket signed off, drove back around the corner cut it off and had it thrown out in court.

No hassle over my plateless front yet, but my car is garaged most of the week and cops where I normally go don't care. But if/when I do get pulled over, I got my "I was recently in a front-end collision and waiting for a new plate holder from Mazda" excuse ready.

I was in Santa Monica, CA...

That explains it ;) I figured as soon as I saw this thread you would be in California. Especially in LA. I have received 11 of those over time and in the past, it's been a long time since I last got one. Should be a $25 fix it ticket. Back when I used to get them they were only $10 fix it tickets.

this is exactly how these tickets are supposed to be handled!(five-0) strap it on with zip ties or wire string and then get it signed off then go take it off again. But seriously it sucks they used to be only $10 a few years back. I havent gotten one since 2003 for no plate tho

I take it you are at SMC or a surrounding school that has police on campus. If that is the case, they can't cite you whilst you are parked. All you need do is go to court and explain to the judge that your plate was mysteriously stolen while you were in class. Either that or just put the front plate on and pay the 25 buckaroos.

i started driving with a blacked out accord with no front plates here in northern cali never got pulled over once. hopefully that stays the same after i get my ms3 tinted next week (i also run plateless in the front for my ms3)

Willfully ignoring the law carries with it the risk of getting busted. None of use has a basis for complaint in a situation like that. Here in Florida, I am lucky enough that we don't use front plates. But the day I get pulled over & busted for illegal tint, I will have nobody to blame but myself. Roll the dice, and eventualy you will lose. Fact of life.

I have basis for complaint Bill - I have window tint to protect my fine leather interior. Thus is I get a ticket for it, then I will be upset, and in turn will proceed to whine like the that I am.
On a side note, why do all the cars in your signature looked stoned?

Minis are stoners... the MS3 is just giving in to peer pressure.

No front plate required here in Louisiana. They didn't even drill the holes in the front bumper cover to put a plate on (rockon)

If I lived in a state that required it, I'd just give in and deal with it.

I've decided not to drill my bumper up here in VT. No issues yet, it doesn't seem to be very noticeable to anyone.

Unfortunately they drilled my bumper at the dealersip before I got my keys. Thought they were being nice attaching my front plate. grrrr

i know what the hell.. seriously who takes it into their own hands to drill holes in the front of someone's several thousand dollar investment??? to me that's kinda obsurd. it should be against the law to drill holes in something that doesn't belong to you.

Well, if it's the law to have a from plate in your state, the dealers may be required to drill the holes and place any hardware needed, it only makes sense IMO. Also, most of the time, the holes and hardware are drilled/installed before you sign the papers and take ownership of the vechicle.

QFT.

Yes, it's a stupid law and yes one would think that cops have better things to do other than hand out a ticket for it but that's not really the point. The point is, if you live in a state where it's the law, then it's the law. Case closed. If you don't like it, then move to a state where it's not required and if that's not an option, either put on the front plate and don't worry or take the risk and don't. And if you get nailed, then you shouldn't be bitching and moaning if you get a ticket as it's your own damn fault that you got it.

I just wish that they would give you the option. i don't mind the ticket honestly. i hate the front plate. plus with the amount of options out there to relocate front plates. maybe i wanted to do a hide-a-plate style front so i could tuck it away for car shows and what not. now with holes in the front i have to come up with some cheesey way to cover it up, or get a new bumper. all of which i would have to pay for.

plus there are tons of things dealers are required by law to do and they don't anyway... so i don't know what the big deal would be to simply confirm with the customer that they will be putting holes in a $600 bumper to comply with a $40 law.
