Tick Tick Tick

So far I have not found anything close to that cheap around here. I don't want to get a junkyard engine, just because I have no idea of anything on it. So either a rebuilt or japanese used engine would be preferrable. Two quotes, 3k for a 30,000 mile japanese used installed. And $2500 for just a used engine install.

I'm having a hard time justifying a 3k engine in a car that has a value of $5k max.

Maybe it's just my area? I'm close to Chicago and everything is more expensive than everywhere else haha.

if you are going to spend that much on a motor might as well get a msp motor so you at least get turbo goodness

My thoughts exactly...a lot of shops will only put in the stock motor though, unfortunately.

MSP motor IS the Protege Motor, I don't think the turbo would come with a new/used engine.

If you want an upgrade, you'll have to rebuild with forged/better components.

Yeah, i know that, but it isn't the original engine that comes in my protege5. I've encountered this before with a Trans Am...the shops would not put a 350 in it when a 305 is what came in it.

At least that's the shops around me...and I now get what you are saying, it is the same engine, but with forged internals and turbo...
