This is not the first one I've seen. Check it closely as its probably not the only crack on the manifold.

Unfortunately you will probably need to have it re welded occasionally as cracks will almost always appear over time with tubular manifolds. I have seen people have problems with $1200 manifolds too. I think a lot of the problem comes from when the welder dosn't pre heat the materials before welding.

same thing happened to my awr although mine was more like a tiny crack. I know and used to work for a guy that owns a machine shop he welded her back up for me for nothing, i took it off the car of course. a local exhaust shop wanted to charge me like 75 to do it on the car, i said thanks now take it off the lift and drove off.

protephile said there is lifetime warranty. so shoot him a pm. it sucks , especially since you gotta take it off the car.

The biggest problem is the design. It has to fail the way it is built. The nipple for the EGR is way too long, giving huge leverage to the EGR tube to break it.
Also, it looks like it was butt-welded onto the piece. Add also that the weld looks suspect as complete fusion is not evident.
If anybody is seriously wanting to copy these fix these problems first.

If you buy a SteedSpeed manifold, the problem does not exist. The EGR nipple is much shorter, plus it actually protrudes into the billet for support. Add to that that I weld it onto one side before putting the front on, and you have a very quality install with some thought behind it for just these reasons.

A forum member sells then on this site but he goes through a company which I forgot the name of (I'm great help :)

I do know that they aren't on EBAY and roughly 400 ;)

I'm assuming these things were dirt cheap anyways were they?
Can you get them on E-bay?

I see. That's not a bad price, wonder how long they are lasting before failure...

Lifetime warranty - but its a part I wouldn't want to take off and put back on...

I'm basically waiting on SteedSpeeds mani to see what or if any issues arise.

Also I hear that Brach might be coming out with something not to shabby..

This is actually a good idea. It's a quality product, but there will be about 10 of them running around in less than 3 weeks, so it will be a good gauge of performance and drivability also. The feedback on the first one was great, felt alot better, and hit fuel cut. Lack of fuel means more oxygen is entering the combustion chamber.

Yeah - I really don't see any problems with this puppy - Tt just looks well thought out and quality is top notch.

I have an air fuel controller that that wont be a problem :)

well good news is the protophile is a really good guy and it does have a lifetime warrenty so thats all takin care of.

There have been two problems out of almost 150 of these manifolds and countless other N/A headers I've sold. This one, and
one other. No others have been reported to me nor have I seen a thread
about one.
Thunder has and will back up the product 100%; this buyer has already been PMed and will be taken care of, as was the first customer.

You other guys can manifold bash all you want, I honestly couldn't care less. I would never comment on anyone else's product--never have, never will and there isn't anything you can say that will get me into a pissing contest with you in this thread, or any other.
