This weekends install and build...

:
2003.5 White Mazda Protege5
So I started a project in my P5 this weekend. However I took the design from another P5'er and you will know who it is once you see what I am doing. Anyways, here it is so far...

One: All of the wood
Two: The new bottom of the trunk
Three: The box after being put together and having the wholes for the subs cut out

Now, I took out the truck bottom and the stock subwoofer. I replace that with 3/4" MDF in three pieces covered with Black Vinyl. It dropped the trunk down three inches. Needless to say I had a few problems with some of the sizing of the wood so I made due. Had to tear another box apart I had lying around to make side pieces. All in all, it is sealed and ready to pound.

I will be selling the stock sub woofer including the mounting hardware as well as the stock plastic pieces that go in the trunk under the mat. I will NOT be selling the mat. The stock in-dash CD change might go as well. It depends on if it is in working order or not. If you are interested in anything, let me know. Also, let me know what you think of the project so far. I am hoping to vinyl the box tomorrow. More pictures when the project is nearing complete.

I have two Volfenhag 12" Subs that are going in it. The syste, right now is the same one I had in my Honda Civic a year ago before I traded it in for my P5. Unfortunately since I am getting married in September I don't have much money. After that, I will be buying an entirely new system. The setup will be the same, however the headunit, mids, subs and amps wont be! : ) So for now, two Volfenhag 12" subs and a Pyramid 2000 watt (probably pushes 1000 if I am lucky) amp. Supposedly wired at 2OHM stable in parallel this amp will push 1400 Watts to the subs! So, we'll see. All of the wiring will be KnuKonceptz.

That is just what the amps papers say. I am doubting it but who knows. We will see I guess.

Check to see how many volts are being put through it when its rated. A lot of companies are testing them at 110v and listing the wattage from that. However, your car only runs 12v through the amp so it doesn't put out any where near what it says. (Sony Explode's for example.) A lot of new and/or smaller companies are doing that. A good Amp is usually $1 per watt, my JL 1000/1 for example.1 G!!!! How much can you get that amp for?

How much can I get a JL amplifier for? Haha, right now I can't. The wholesale company I buy from only carries the lower brands. I have found other companies that carrie the higher brands but they all require buy ins and what not. Sucks! Anyways, the amp is a Pyramid so it will probably only push 200 watts per sub. It's a four channel amp. I will be using all four channels brigded. The amp was free to me and was better than what I had lying around. My new system is going to be insane though.

insane looking....
you won't get good quality sound using those components though.

Four channel amp. Channels one and two bridged at 4OHM stable for one sub will push about 400 watts. Channels three and four bridged at 4OHM stable for one sub will also push about 400 watts. Therefore, there will be two 4OHM stable connections to the amplifier which it says it can handle.
