This is what MAZDA / MAZDASPEED needs to do...

Lest we forget that the power the SRT-4 already makes is almost useless unless going more than 30mph? They don't come with LSD's, which makes them a highway monster, but crap in any kind of track racing, autocross or drag strip. Stock Neon's already have problems in autocrosses with traction, even with slicks.

Actually, Dodge/Chrysler are talking to Tochigi-Fuji about acquiring the same torque sensing LSD we have on our MS's right now, so look out. With the available coil-overs, LSD, and some engine mods, this thing is going to be super mean. And it's all going to happen, this is no 'WHAT IF' s***, its already in the works. Still love my wifes Mazdaspeed though, but my RX-8 is already ordered boys ..... wait and drool.

Geez, there are a ton of whiners on this board. You people need to realize there's always going to be something faster or cheaper or better handling or quieter ride or whatever. SRT-envy is a plague here and you people can't be happy that you have a sweet f'ing car in the MSP. I can't believe people are complaining that Mazda doesn't produce performance parts for the MSP which is already a "modified" car that is limited freaking production!

UMMM well if you want to get more performance email me on the piggyback system we have and then youll see some power from the increased boost and efficiency levels from the stock setup.

Actually, the SRT is praised for it's lack of turbo lag and every mag including Grassroots Motorsports has said the the torque steer is mild and the traction is good. The Neon platfrom does VERY well at autoX events.

i don't like the 14mpg hwy on the srt. makes it crap for a daily driver. thats why I LOVE MY MAZDASPEED!!!!

You will probably get under 20mpg if you drive the s*** out of the MSP, so in real world driving the SRT hovers around 20 which is fine. Besides, paying an extra $20 a month in gas for that power is worth it.

THIS IS bulls***!!! Why the hell isnt Mazda doing this?!?!?!

400 bucks for a upgrade like that is a damn steal what the hell??

whatever.....

went to a club in beverly hills last night..........
pulled up front........
asked the valey where i can park.........
and he's like - DUDE, LEAVE IT RIGHT HERE.........
guess what, my MSP was right by the entrance the whole night, even the new porshe SUV didnt get to park there..........
when i was going home there was an SRT-4 parked in the lot behind the club.

The reason people are complaining is that Mazda has stated that MazdaSpeed would make performance parts available. So far, the only stuff out there is the MP3 stuff listed in the Protege Accessories book. You still can't buy the turbo, clutch, etc from the MSP for a stock Protege. Also, once you have the MSP you are done; no more MS parts left to buy.

Yes, the MSP is already modified. So is the SRT. I think I may be a little different than some others here. I got the MSP because while I would love to be able to, I don't have the time to upgrade and tune a stock car. If so, I would have gotten a Protege or something else with no options and bought all the extras. I wanted something modded from the factory (although some day when I have $$$ I would LOVE to get a Miata, add a turbo, and tune away).

A lot of the people here are tuners. A tuner isn't going to buy the MSP (or any other compact) and say, "Oh good. I don't have to do anything". They're going to mod just for the joy of it.

Mazda has said all along that MSP turbos, manifolds, and a few other select parts would not be available to the public, and honestly, who cares? I'd much rather pick up a T3 or a GT25XX and a nice mani from spoolin, FM, hiboost, ect.

That said, I think you'll see factory/mazdaspeed parts becomming available after a few thousand RX-8's are sold. My point is that it may not be worth the R&D and production costs to make performance parts for a limited run car like the MSP. The SRT is a different story because Dodge wants to sell as many as possible. More SRT's on the road equals more customers for Mopar parts.

but if your a college kid like me, the extra money is killer. and i drive 45 min one way to school. and the 14mpg is off of the c&d comparo. they got 14 mpg hwy on regular driving. i mean, good idea, just make it more practical.

oh yeah i wanted to ask you buster... not being an ass or anything, but are you like hardcore pro neon? sometimes you act like its the be all and end all of the sport compact world.

I haven't seen anyone really whining about the mileage on the SRT forums, so I figure it is not much of an issue. 1 extra tank isn't going to break ya.....:)
I like the SRT4, and have nevered said it is the BEST. I just defend it cause others seem to have a pretty closed mind and lots of misinformation.

So far the SpecV guys seem to facing a similar bit with Nismo. They do have a decent aftermarket developing but Nissan has so far been dragging their heels at making Nismo stuff available.

its a nice engine and stuff, just a strange platform. i woulda put all that in a stratus. then...

I always thought the Avenger was a cool car. That should have been the car Dodge hopped up. Cool car, cool name. Neon? What you driving a light bulb? Kinda looks like one, bulbous and all. :D

check this out about the Turbo Upgrade for the srt-4

I know its a good platform, but they DO have traction problems. As Dave Carson once said, "If your tires arn't spinning out of the turn, your not driving a Neon right". They have real bad problems with that.

Lets see here, LSD is going to be at LEAST $1200, if not more. Then another $X amount in turbo upgrades. At LEAST $1000 for a good set of coil-overs...your looking at a $24k car right there.

A 24k car that will handle like the MSP and have 70 more horses, lighter than any AWD car, and be American to boot. Sounds like a winner to me.

I think if more people stopped bitching about factory support and started e-mailing some companies, a 1000 or so e-mails can do alot of good. Just because the damn car is turbocharged, you have a ton of options already. I just got my Accralite forged pistons in, now have my Greddy E-01 installed and am buying an extra tranny to have shot peened.

Anything you want to do to this car you can. You're gonna spend alot of money, but thats what happens when you have a rare car. Anything that you want to get done, can be done .... all for a price.
