This is soo stupid...need advice

Ok,
I use to live in Miami...everybody is very liberal etc. Now I live in Richmond Va and everybody is very southern conservative. I am a liberal......I am open minded and I dont mind conservative people, southern people, green people.......you get the point.

So I have a Evolution 8 and I ordered some personalized tags for it that read DARWIN......the reason I picked this name is because I am trying to play on the words.........Darwin wrote the theory of evolution, I have a lancer evolution hence the DARWIN plate.

I am not a darwinist and do not entirely agree with Darwins theory.....its just a theory and does not offend me in any way.


So now to the point......a buddy of mine is pretty religous and goes to a christian college. We are very good friends......when I told him the tag I got he was pretty pissed with me. I tried explaining to him that I was not trying to make a political or religous point.....but just trying to be witty....

When you hear the name CHARLES DARWIN....the first thing that comes to mind is Theory of Evolution. I have a evolution!!!
Whats the big deal here

So I know peeps on this forum come from all walks of life and cultures, what is your take on this. Am I being stupid here?
Or is my bud overreacting?

i find that plate acceptable- even funny and a good choice.

i think if your friend is taking a LICENSE PLATE seriously, he needs to step back and re-evaluate how serious he takes everything.

You arent being stupid. I think your friend over reacted. First of all you didnt get the plate to piss him off and second of all it doesnt even mean anything about you supporting darwins. He should have had and open mind about what you were going for there, not because he needs to get over Darwinism..but because you are his friend
