This is f!ucking ridiculous

hahaha!! I tried telling you guys about that stupid Magnusson Moss crap.

What does your AF meter say? Does it always run rich? Is your car flashed? Is it an 03 or an 03.7? Are you driving hard all the time? What do you do for mazda?? Can you go to another mazda dealer in your area? How many miles on your car? I might be able to help, but I'm a little biased towards lawsuits against dealerships.

My AF is reading stoich, right towards the middle. I'm hardly ever in any kind of positive boost, my gauge usually reads 0 pounds or in the vacuum area because I never beat on the car. Its an 03, and yes it has been flashed. There are no other Mazda dealers in my area, so taking it to someone else is out of the question. I've tried resetting the PCM numerous times with no success. I'm thinking that maybe my plugs are fouled. I'm going to remove my MBC, change the plugs and reset my PCM. I'm using a TurboXS MBC, but I don't think thats the problem. I'm a tech trainer for Mazda.

First, if you increased your boost, you really should change to colder plugs. I suggest this even at stock boost. Platinum plugs run to hot for a boosted application.

Second, I have a thread about this, and treanding it.(search for it cause Im too lazy to right now :D ) I did reset my PCM saturday nite, and drive highway for a little over 400 miles, and used about 1 and 1/4 tank. PRETTY good gas mileage there.

Other then that, tell the dealer to STFU. Unles youreally do have a vac leak on the boost gauge line. (because that can cause your car to run UBER rich)

I'm running colder plugs. Funny thing is, I've had the car for 8 months now, only have 8300 miles on it and ever since the flash its ran like s***. I'm also getting some kind of funny hesitation at 2500 RPM's.

Are these KM's or Miles??

I get about 250mi per tank, but I only put $20 in each time, and at $1.75/gal, that isn't a full tank. This last time I filled it up, and next time I'm going to fill it up, so I'll see what kind of gas mileage I'm getting.

Alex

160 miles man, not good. Hell, my built T-Rex gets better gas mileage than this ******.

no flash, no cats...i'm averaging 31mpg HWY and 24mpg in CITY

I have an 03 and I'm 100% stock. I got it flashed and I get this hessitation still right at the same RPM mark.

Since you're a tech trainer, whaddya think? I personally think it may be one of the vac/boost lines.

I'm getting 19-20 mpg in the city which is better than you right now, but since the flash I have gotten worse and worse gas mileage. It's almost like it gets worse with each fillup

now that's just bulls***

31 city? sorry :bs:

My car gets better gas mileage when modded than when it was stock. Also I don't usually have my foot into it unless needed so I personally get good gas mileage from my driving style.

On a trip to NC I got 410 & 425 on two tanks with all freeway driving.

I had my car for about 2 months now and everytime i fill my tank usually the yellow lights on so i can get how many miles i can go from the full to yellow..and so far i have been getting between 320 to 295..thats highway and stop and go... so far the car is basically stock just K&N and MBC....

My light just went on this morning at 303 miles. Mostly freeway. I think after the light we get about 40 more, correct??

with an mbc, it doesnt change the fuel map, the same ammount still goes in, it just leans out the a/f ratio... for that to happen, youd need a rising rate fuel pressure regulator.

Actually, thats partially correct. The boost controller does absolutly nothing to the fuel map, that is correct, but it does not lean out the a/f ratio unless your fuel system can't keep up with the amount of boost your running. Our cars do not have this problem below 10psi.

You are correct a FPR would change the a/f ratio, so will the JoeP hesitation and Fuel-pressure reducer devices.

Just a tip, I would advise against a rising rate FPR unless the car is tuned for one in the begining(I'm not sure if our cars are or not). Add a rising rate unit will only make it richer in the top end(or leaner in the bottom, depending on how its tuned), again, unless the car has a rising rate unit to begin with.

Picked up my Titanium Grey MSP on Tuesday of this week... The dealship was nice and gave me a coupon for a full tank of gas. The car had 36km on it.... it now has 103km, and this morning in -25 C weather the car hesitated like you all mention. The gas isn't pegged but I feel a big jerk in the car, then back to full power  WTF???

And plus now I hear some dumb knock in the back of the car... HELLO?!?

Oh and get this, when I went to go pick the car up, it wouldn't start. Seemed the battery was dead. So they push the car into the garage, and change the batt. right there in the shop, but when I got home with it for the first time and armed it, it flashed twice to let me know it was locked and then my DRL and park lights all stay on. They don't shut off! I have to get in the car, turn it on, then off and lock my door manually... unarming the car doesn't work, and the lever for the lights is none functional when this occurs.

Plus, I think my gas mileage sucks, my guage is already at half way with only 70km on this tank.... mind you I do spank it any chance I get to break it in right... what a WEIRD LITTLE CAR!

If I turned my cruise control on with a full tank of gas and drove continuously on a flat surface, I still couldn't go 425 miles before I ran out. Not now, not when I was stock.

I had to do the speed limit (50mph) for about an hour on the Natchez Trace Pkwy. awhile back. If you kept it there for a full tank...maybe 400 miles. But highly unlikely.

What is your vacuum at idle? I think that 20 in. Hg. is typical for our cars. At stock boost, as soon as I give it any throttle I go to 0 psi. I have to use a really light touch on the gas to keep out of boost. I am flashed and as stock boost (goes to ~6.9 at max)

This is just an uneducated guess, but if you have a vacuum leak, then your range of readings should be closer to 0 than normal. In other words, you would be losing vacuum and boost, so boost will not go as high, and vac will not go as low.

Hope this gives you some baseline info to go on.

Well every motor and driver are different. I know what I get per tank. If you don't believe me than that's fine. As I said I can get 400+ if it's all freeway driving and 350 a tank with mixed city and freeway. This is all without cruise control since us MSP owner's don't have that as a option.
