I have been dealing with HORRIBLE gas mileage for the last 2 months. I'm not talking about the typical stuff, I'm talking about 160 MILES ON A TANK OF GAS. I bring it to the ******* dealer and they tell me its because I have a damn boost gauge. They say its causing a vacuum leak (which I know it ******* isnt) and thats what is dropping my mpg. These are the same people that told me the reason my battery was going dead all the time because I has installed a different headunit.

Any buddy else having horrible gas mileage like this? I know there was a thread on bad MPG but, this is a FAR worse case than anyone else is having. Bad thing is I work for Mazda and cant get anything ******* done.

The only mods I have are colder plugs, an MBC, Turbo Timer, AF gauge and boost gauge.

Anybody got any clue why its doing this or wtf I can do. I pull out the Magnunsen-Moss act and they don't do s***, just laugh.

And this folks is the reality about your warranty. Man that sucks. Could you potentially un-mod and take it to a different dealer?

Boostisgood reset his ecu w/ promising results .... he said he got 360 mi on the hwy. Could you try that? I think I'm going to do the same this weekend.

did you check the plugs to make sure they arent fouled, and what boost are you running? If you take it to the dealer, take the MBC off, that for sure will cause problems.
It's a hassle, but the warranty doesnt cover the mods, and even though they shouldnt deny you service, they will because of it.

PS. Check your AFR threads please.

hahaha!! I tried telling you guys about that stupid Magnusson Moss crap.

What does your AF meter say? Does it always run rich? Is your car flashed? Is it an 03 or an 03.7? Are you driving hard all the time? What do you do for mazda?? Can you go to another mazda dealer in your area? How many miles on your car? I might be able to help, but I'm a little biased towards lawsuits against dealerships.

my msp had 12 kilometres on it when i picked it up and a full tank. now it has 276kms and the needles at halfway... that equates to over 500 kilometres on a tank and the cars not even broken in yet

greg, thats because you ream on your car wherever you go. I ream on my car half the time, and i get 280.

160 miles to a tank is pretty low. mine isn't that low. i see you have a boost controller but it still shouldn't be that low. my car is jumps around from low 200 to 250,260 area. the dealer you are going to sucks! but did you atleast take off the mbc.

what kind of boost controller are you using? i know it shouldn't be it, but that will take some of the fule away and if you boost too much when you are running too lean.

hows the AF guage reading? about average?

with an mbc, it doesnt change the fuel map, the same ammount still goes in, it just leans out the a/f ratio... for that to happen, youd need a rising rate fuel pressure regulator.

I got about 230 mpg at 8 Psi, but i am stock now and get 260-280mpg, im doing mostly freeway driving right now though.

Man 160 a tank is not good. I feel for ya there man. Right now i'm at around 215 on this tank and it is still half full. But that is not usual for me, i've been driving like a grandpa recently. I normally get about 250 to a tank. I'd take the mbc off and take it to another dealer.

160 a tank??? that equals out to like 12 MPG!!! (or whatever) that's ferrari territory man!! LOL I thought my gas mileage sucked and I'm usually in the 300+ range (25mpg or more) I personally feel that should be the low-end for a little 4 banger like ours but whatever.

You obviously have something wrong with your car bro. Even those who are getting like 250 or less... HELL!!! 300 or less out of a tank is pretty bad!!! You all have some issues that need to be resolved. Obviously are cars are all virtually brand new. No reason in hell any of us should be dealing with sub-par gas mileage.

take the MBC off... take it to the dealer and have them fix it!!! get them to understand your point of view. ask the tech how he'd feel if he had just bought a new car and was only getting 12 MPG!! I don't care how much you beat on your car... there's no excuse for that s***!!
