This guy hit my MS3 and ran away. >_<

bones

What holds your body together along with muscles and tendons. They are part of a massed structure known as a skeleton.
You can also bury your "bone" in your girl. LOL

I asked her how many bones were in the human body.....she replied "205". I said "yeah, and would you like me to show you how to get one more in there?"

Let me start off by saying, "you guys rock!" as I have really good news.
Much thanks goes to SeminoleMan, and I owe you a nice dinner if you ever come by the NoVA area. I really wasn't planning on taking any action on this mainly because the police made it sound so hopeless, but I'm glad I took initiative to do something (thanks to you guys). Justice prevails!

Flurry of events took place after I obtained the phone number. At 3:44 p.m. yesterday, I called Mrs. Donahue who seemed like a nice lady although she had difficulty talking to me (age: 82). She was quite concerned about her Son ("is he in trouble?"); I assured her that the accident was minor, and that I wasn't planning on pressing charges or anything. She kindly referred me to her other son who was living in Ohio, but she wanted to call him first to let him know that I'd be calling to lessen the shock factor. I waited a few minutes before dialing the number. He sounded like a reasonable person although I could definitely feel that he wasn't pleased with his brother. He apparently called his brother (Mr. hit & run) before I called and assured me that I'd be getting a call from him within 24 hours. I thanked him but wondered what kind of confrontation I'd be facing, but he simply told me call him (in Ohio) again if I don't receive a call.

Today afternoon I took my banged up MS3 to D&V Auto Body in Chantilly, VA, and Kevin rang up a preliminary estimate of $744.48. (I was quite glad I called Ohio at that point) To my surprise, Mr. Donald Donahue himself called me at 9:51p.m., and I was quite shocked at how the conversation went.

"My brother called and said that I brushed your vehicle?"
(I figured that he probably had an earful from his brother)
"Yes, on Saturday in Springfield"
"Oh, my gosh. I'm so sorry, I would have stopped if I had known. I'm so glad that you contacted my brother."
(desperately trying to keep myself from laughing out loud -> I mean... was this really the same person who said to me, "I didn't hit anything" and ran? and didn't he brake test and pull all sorts of dangerous maneuvers on I-495 trying to make me crash into him and other cars on the road?)
"Is everything okay?"
"It was really nothing major. All I need is your insurance information, so I can get it taken care of"
(gives the insurance info.)
"Again, I'm so sorry. Please give me a call tomorrow to let me know what happened."

I e-mailed my insurance agent with the information. My phone rang abruptly, and it was Mr. Donahue again who wanted to know how much the estimate was. I gave him the amount, and he basically wanted me to hold off on calling his insurance for now. He wanted to know how much the total would be after car rental was added for 3 days since he figured that he could be better off cutting me a check. I sent yet another e-mail to my agent asking for advice.

Sorry for this long post. I thank you guys and girls again for your support! I'll keep you updated. *^_^*

Short story:

Donald R. Donahue from 759 Meadowbrook Ave. SE Warren, Ohio 44484 who drives a 2002 silver Mazda Protege5 with license plate DQB-1521 hit me today and ran away, but the Virginia police told me they can't really do anything.

Long story:

I was in Springfield, VA today to videograph my cousin's wedding. After the wedding ceremony, I was driving to the reception area. While making a left turn from Amherst Ave. onto Commerce St. in Springfield a car that was in the inner turning lane crossed over and hit me from the behind. I turned on my blinkers and got out of the car. I noticed the person was a white male in his late 40s or 50s, driving a silver Protege5. I quickly wrote down the license plate number and demanded the insurance information, and he replied, "I didn't hit anything." >_< While I was walking towards the car right behind (to get some witness info), the Protege driver decided to punch the gas and took off. I was like, "what the?" and immediately followed him. His Protege5 wasn't hard to catch up to with my MS3, but he was driving like a bankrobber on the run. He turned onto I-495 from Commerce st, and it looked like he hit a new silver (sandy color) Honda Civic coupe as he was running away from me because now that car was attempting to get this lunatic to pull over.
This guy was starting to upset me because he would do stuff like slamming on his brakes, trying to make me crash into him.
I frantically got on my phone and called 911, and they told me... to pull over, so they could file a report (all the while I'm chasing him). I was like "wha~?" but I obeyed and pulled over to the side, letting this Ohio driver to disappear from my sight. Then this operator told me that because the accident happened in Fairfax County, I'd have to meet up with a Fairfax Co. police to file the report. So we decided that I'd meet up with an officer at a 7-11 in Annandale. After twenty minutes or so, a female officer came to the location, and told me that they had gotten another call reporting an accident with the matching car description in Springfield (turns out that the person in front of me saw the whole thing and reported). She then continued to tell me that because the guy's car is registered in Ohio, and because the state of OH does not give up the necessary info needed to pursue this case to other jurisdictions, it'd be almost impossible to do anything. She added that by filing a report to my insurance company, I might actually do more harm to my records than good since the damage is minor. I asked with a straight face, "so because this guy is from Ohio, he could kill someone with the car and get away with it?" She replied, "well... that would be different. With minor cases like yours, he'd only get a $20 ticket." She asked me if I still wanted to file a report (I said yes), and when I asked her, "honestly speaking if this were your car what would you do?" she said, "nothing. It sucks."

From the police report she wrote up, I now know this jerk of a person's name is Donald R. Donahue who lives (or used to live) at 759 Meadowbrook Ave SE Warren, Ohio 44484. Ohio License plate DQB-1521 for the 2002 silver Mazda Protege5. Funny thing was that I had my nice video equipment in my passenger seat (for the wedding), but it never occurred to me to record him (would've made a hell of a youtube video). According what the police officer told me, that probably wouldn't have mattered anyway though. >_< It would have been like... I (and the witnesses) have this video of the person who hit me. I know his car model/year/ license plate, his name and even where he lives, but ultimately I have to pay to fix my car.

I love the American justice system, don't you?

Sounds to me like thier just being lazy, I had a Hit and run on my eclipse, I just so happend to be getting in my car after work as this chick I knew went to the local high school hit my car, (uhm) I got the first 4 of her plate, made the report, went to the high school the next day and found her car with my paint on it, (dance) called the cops and told them I found the car and gave them the last couple digits and they contacted her after that, (lol) I got my money no problem after that. :D But before that they said they would look into it, which I know they wouldnt have, THEY ARE JUST LAZY!!! and I also live in OHIO.... Go FIGURE

I actually live in NoVa (Kingstowne area down the Franconia/ Springfield Parkway probably 3 minutes from the mall.) Seriously man, you don't owe me anything.

Respect for other peoples property is a big deal and nothing annoys me more than door dings or other damage due to someone else's negligence. Glad you followed up and hopefully you get your ride fixed.

This guy is already playing games, so if he renegs or you can't get in touch with him for any reason, you need to get in touch with insurance immediately. The last thing you want is to chase him for two months and then finally try to get payment through insurance. Much harder to prove your case and who knows if he tries to change insurance companies in the meantime...

I've removed the phone and address details for Mrs. Donahue since Hikaru9 has established contact.

Great work guys, it's nice to see that justice will be done in a civilized manner. Hikaru, your attitude during this was really good, but I am glad that other members persuaded you to take action.

Nothing will ever beat what happened on that Vette forum though!

schizophrenia at its best
When I read "I didn't hit anything... and then he took off" my first thought was that the guy was super-duper high, but schizo is another possible explaination.

Also, with the elderly parents handing this off to the brother to deal with, and Mr. hit and run calling you back all apologies, I'd say he's the well-known problem in the family, and they're probably pretty accustomed to covering for his ass. Again, this points right to drugs or mental health problems.

Anyway, I'm glad you're getting it resolved

(bowdown)Much respect to SeminoleMan for tracking him down. You are the man.(bowdown)

I just now saw this...but all I can say is...

Guess which one of us grew up in Warren, Ohio, knows where this punkass lives, and is willing to gather a bunch of people to go enforce some Mazda Law. Anyone else in?

I'm sure if a bunch of Mazdas show up at this asshole's place, he'll get the hint.

One thing I can tell you about Warren, OH is that it's a freaking dump. Average yearly family income is a mere $20k a year. All industry in the area shut down at about the same time, leaving the town a very depressed area. You know what, I think I saw that jackass last time I was home to visit my parents (who still live in Warren). This really pisses me off. When I saw the first post on this i said HOLY s***. The name sounds so familiar. Matter of fact, my old elementary school bus route used to go down that road.

About 95% of the people in the area are either on drugs or are schizo. I hope this doesn't happen to you, but each time I had an experiecne like that..it fell thru. Good luck to you, but he's going to try to make you not contact the insurance so he can screw you. It's how it works in the ghetto there...

wow...just read everything... seminoleman, your great!

also Hikaru9...idk how you stayed so calm and relaxed but im happy to see its going to be fixed... keep us updated!

right... at this point the assholes are just dicking around... I wouldn't accept any private payment from them in anything less than a cashier's check... if they try to give you a personal check, **** them... claim their insurance, because they probably are writing a bad check

at the mean time, make sure the insurance info you got is good that way you can use it as a backup

one thing I found out a long time ago... NEVER trust the person who hit you! it sounds like you're being too nice to them... you have to take a stand and look out for your interests

the dude being nice as s*** to you after you called him doesn't sound suspicious....... (poke)

PROTECT YOURSELF!!!

I've had 5 hit and run claims on my Honda in or around the city of Warren. It's not rare for someone around there to have a newer car and not have insurance. I've found out, and my one sister found out too. My sister was driving an 84 MB 190E when she caught a patch of ice and tapped this girl in a rotted Olds 88 at a stop light. The license plate holder on the front of the benz cracked, and that was the extent of the damage. The girl she hit had no insurance and the cop let her go. Shortly afterwards, that girl contacted our insurance and ran a $3500 medical bill for a mere tap. I've been rearended at 35 mph before and had a slightly stiff neck. A 2 mph bonk doesn't hurt enough for $3500 in medical.

I guess the long moral of my story is to trust NO ONE...especially in that town. Anyone ever hear of Youngstown, OH...the Murder Capital of the US? It used to be very widely Mafia run, and it leaked into Warren. It's still there...and all the insurance companies, as well as the cops are on the payroll. And no, I'm not exaggerating.

No kidding. If I didn't have a great job in Akron, I would have left as soon as I could have.

If your car issue doesn't get resolved, I'm more than willing to help out in any way.
