i was recently offered a miata for 1700 bucks. basically i was wondering what people here think of the miata and what not. it would save a ton of money to have a paid off car instead of continually paying for the 3. comments?

only a gay man drives a miata

haha j/k, i herd alot of really good things of them, they have great pick up power(they can go-go) and good handling (just for the fact that they are like 200lb lol) and they can fit just about everywhere. and chicks dig convertables ;)

If the mileage is under 150K and the body/engine are in good condition, that is a pretty good deal. Moxnix paid $2k for his '90 w/ 108K and a hardtop a little over a year ago. The Miata is a blast to drive, the gas mileage isn't bad and if you are a creative packer, you can fit a bunch of stuff in them. Also the reliability and safety are very good too. And since mostly old guys drive them, the insurance can be lower too. :D Oh, and winter is definitely the time to buy a Miata since the prices are lowest then.

Ya, they look kinda ghey, but they are awesome race cars. Same engine as my Protege (for the most part) the BP can be abused to no end and will always ask for more. My BP has been abused for 15 years and has yet to be cracked open for service.

I have driven many a Miata on autox courses and they handle VERY well. And we all know the aftermarket is ALL OVER the car, so you have a multitude of mod options. Toda comes to mind first, order EVERYTHING they have :) :)

Possible clown car -- if you are 6'6" and 300 lbs that is. Then it wouldn't work for you, but other than that it would be great.

then how old is it? how many miles? cause for 1700 expect repair bills... thats why i got sick of repair bills and went and got car payments.... either way there is only a small window when payments stop and repair bills start.... both suck...

I used to have a '99 Silver Miata And I LOVED it, buy it man, they are so nice, regarless of what everyone says...Just make it look nice, and go fast, and make some jaws drop. Here is mine (thumb)

Thats a nice looking miata you got there. If you dont want payments then get it. I thought of doing the same about a year ago with the p5,but had a hard time parting with it.

yeah its 1700 bucks with 103k on it. i'm sure if i just replaced as much as i could without breaking the actual engine open it should go for awhile....
