Thinking of a new paint job.

Hi all,

I have a 2002 P5 that's Midnight Blue. I was thinking I want to paint it a solid "Middle Grey" Non metalic. Like the Audi TT they had a few years ago in "aviator grey"

Could you give me some opinions?

Don't do it unless you are going to do it right.
That means Painting all jambs, hatch area and removing the engine to do the engine bay.
If your not willing to do this and pay the money it will take to get it done right....Don't waste your time.

BTW..I paint.

Off the top of your head, what would be the cost to do it the hard way?

ballpark?

$2000-$5000+...Depends on the painter and the shop.
Unless you have a good friend..Its gonna cost ya.

yeah I agree, get it done right if your gonna do it. but color sounds cool in a p5 actually.

forcefed ^ since you paint just a quick question. how much is it to have some touch up done in a rare color? the evo graphite grey to be exact. I had to swerve to avoid a situation and my back tires went off the road hitting a little gravel. so I have a few little speckels from rocks by the back wheel well on one side. trying to decifer if its worth having touched up before selling.

You cant really just touch up.Best bet is a Detail/Touch up/Dent Wizard type guy.
Prices vary soo mcuh its not funny. Its all about the guy doing it and you particular damage..and where you live.

okay well no biggie, I'll figure it out. good luck with the grey on the p5.

I'm in Vancouver, Canada. Does anyone have a good referral for this job?

Nice color, but I would suggest going with the fastest color available, Sunlight Silver.

I personally think the P5 would look sick in the mazda 3 color, Aurora Blue Mica
my reasoning is because my brother painted his car that color and it looks pretty sweet; but dont take my word for it!

dam... looks like laser blue to me. Can't tell the difference.

As for the aviator grey... go for it! I would love to see it on a p5. Do as others suggest, and take the time to paint the jambs and engine bay, etc. After that, keep it clean and understated, and you'll prob. have one of the nicest looking p5s around.

lol yea the colors are pretty similar cept the aurora blue is like a mica and it actually has a shitload of pearl in it, cant tell from the pic
unless laser blue has that in it too then i guess there about the same lol ones darker i guess

I want to paint mine that metalic olive drab baby poo green that some jeeps come in. Im not kidding.

HOK makes Chrome paint...But its supposed to be for smaller things like graphics and such...I havent seen it in person..But knowing them and their product..It probably gets pretty close to being chrome.

Kent, that will look good. Some of the other Vancouverites may have suggestions. You may have to wait for any response from them. They have their own board. I don't visit it much though.
