Well, to keep everyone up to speed, I got here just before 11:00 am MST...The install has started.

As a matter of fact some new pics have been put up on the FM Protege website. And now, it is time to go get the manifold off.

I will change my sig when I get home, as it is still in progess...And still in the future.

Oh yeah, the FM guys and gals are all pretty cool. Customer service is awesome...

I hope so If I can't get this damn thing figured out I shipping it to them.

More pictures are up. We've been having fun, and the car's going together pretty quickly - despite the fact that Keith keeps stopping to take pictures of every nut and bolt...

Chris, Love the shirt! What is it trying to say?...

(rofl)

Which shirt are you referring to? The "Brakes are for pussies" shirt?? You figure it out...

But things are going very well. We are "flyin'" along so to speak.

It takes a little longer when you take care of mutliple customers all at the same time, take pictures of everything and write stuff down for the directions. But the turbo went in, the piping is going on and we might actually start it up tonight.

But I can wait for tomorrow. I'm really excited to see what it does on the dyno.

I'm really excited to see what it does on the dyno.

Hell Yeah...please post ASAP!

So is this the first customer car with the FM Proteg kit?

Congrats StuttersC (thumb)

It would be sweet to see a dyno/price/what you get comparison, now that we have several systems to choose from.

Those FM guys seem to know a thing or 2 about them hair dyer contraptions. :D

Well, sorry folks, good news and bad news.

First the bad news. No dynos...The car knocks over 5000 rpm in 3rd and 4th gear. So we couldn't get a full out dyno run. The numbers wouldn't have really mattered anyway with the ping.

It did get a little over 160 though on the closest we got to a full run. You can thank the advanced timing of the MP3 for the knock.

So, for now I have a 5000 rpm limit and I'm running octane booster (aka toluene) just in case until FM gets the ECU thing worked out.

Other than that, the car is awesome...Very nice indeed.

Is that one the 91 ocatane fuel out there?
What PSI are you running, 6?

If hes pinging at 5 PSI then My psitons are probably half melted!
Oh well, anyone want to buy a Turbo MP3?

Chris, what did the knock sound like to you?

It sounded a lot like metal popcorn going off in the motor. Not a good noise at all, particularly at 5000 rpm and up.

And yes, we only get 91 octane at this altitude...The boost gauge is hitting right in between 5 and 6 now...So, I'm in 5.5 psi range I would figure. If you get 94, you might be OK. I don't know though.

The toluene has helped I think. I'm still not going past 5000 rpm right now. I have accidentally gone past 5000 (5500) playing last night (OOPS!), but I didn't hear anything terrible.

I'm still playing it safe though. Safer than sorry.
