The PlastiDip Thread

Actually had a can and a half left over, out of the four I bought for the rims. I did 7 coats on the wheels, 3-4 on the rear valance. The valance is much less surface area than it looks. Still have leftover dip xD
I don't mind the glossy look either, but the clear coat didn't come out right. There are too many air bubbles in it, tiny but noticeable if you look close.

Oh nice! You made out pretty good then, so hopefully I'll get away with 2-3 cans then for the hood and the valence. I'm only doing the center half of the hood, like the part that dips down and lines up to the grill. I'm assuming it will be more likely 3 cans. No more than that though right? I'll anticipate 4-5 coats on the hood, and then 4 on the valence.

I plastidipped my wheels in August 2014... Used paint thinner to have the stock silver ring.

I dipped my Miata this Sunday! Had a couple of tears I had to touch up last night, but after 3 full weekends, including a 3-day weekend, and 4 very late nights last week of body work and prep, it's done!

So, I went from this:

2 gallons of black dip went on first, then I masked off the stripes and added one gallon of black with 50gr of World Rally Blue Pearl.

I'm very happy with how it turned out.

Actually, in sunlight the pearl does give it a bit of a satin sheen!

I finally got a chance to get some pictures in sunlight! :D
