The PlastiDip Thread

Can you spray paint plastidip? I've been considering plastidip ing my hood the spraying it with the chalkboard stuff so I can have the chalk board hood and peel it off when I get board with it

Yes you can. PD makes a great primer. I dipped my rims and sprayed them with paint and clear coat only, no primer. 3 months old and still looks great.

Where's a good place to get the stuff and is it packaged in various forms? Only one brand or several? Typical price?

I was thinking of doing the front - basically a bra type effect - for summers. Tough to clean off the bugs - be neat to peel them off in the fall.

I got a can from Lowes...it was an 11oz can for just under $7. And the had a 16oz one (sold out), I forgot how much it was...plus you can get them in bigger sizes online.

for people in the US sure, Canadians if were lucky to find it have to pay closer to $20 for the smaller can and its not available in as many places.

This is all I used:

I scrubbed the rims as clean as possible with dish soap and water and rubbed them down with acetone afterwards to make sure everything was extra clean. I only used the anti-rust paint because that is the color I wanted, I would assume you could use any spray paint just fine.

Did you take the rims off to clean and paint them?

I would. I wouldn't want over spray on the calipers and brake components specially if it was a bright color.

Really Jelly of Roros from end... is anyone else having the same issue as I am with the wax?

Thanks :), it was actually really easy, you should try it! It looks even better with my mew grille and "lip".
