How can you tell its hydraulic? I see a big ol' electric motor integrated with the steering rack.
I don't like the electric power steering in the gen2 ms3's. I like that the pully pump type thing doesn't get in the way when taking the intake mani off but thats about it. I was just talking to a gen2 owner about why I like my car more. My car feels like its trying to kill me at times. Makes a s*** load of noise, vibes, and I can hear everything that is going on with the car at all times. The gen2's are too quiet. I feel like most cars are getting to that stage and being numb I like the rawness of my car and did not like driving the gen2 I was in the other day for an entire day. I would romp on it and it just went, no noise, no vibes no nothing just started going faster. And thats no fun
PS pump on the motor.
ahhh to be young again...
Neat - they've got the engine pretty far back. Hard to tell if it's directly on top of or just behind the front axles. I still see hydraulic power steering though. I was kind of hoping Mazda would be getting away from that.
Here's another view. I'm almost certain it's the water pump. It looks like a radiator hose outlet coming off of it.

Why is it a 4 door? I understand it was "slated' to be a 4 door but never was made into a 4 door. Hideous front end.
New cars are getting so boring![]()
