So is anyone in here hip to R/C cars? I think I might get into them. Something I can customize and build myself, but doesn't have to be the nicest, fastest thing out there. Nitro or battery is fine by me.

what do you want? 2WD, 4WD, buggy, car, truck... I've spent quite a bit of money on them in the past, battery operated will be cheaper

I would probably prefer electric, since they seem to need less maintenance, and on-road, 2wd or 4wd. Something I can zip around the warehouse and tinker with in the winter when I don't want to tinker with Fatty in the freezing garage.

Peaches Mini was really fun to play with (that's what she said) so something like that would be cool. I'm on eBay looking up prices and such to get a general idea.

Electric is MUCH cheaper now, and potentially a lot faster. Brian has a Truggy that hit around 90 mph (gps verified) on his street. But there is a pretty sizable learning curve on them when you get into that level of stuff. He has a programmable radio with custom map to keep the gears from melting on the driveline.

So, my dad kept downloading viruses trying to get an NES emulator so I hooked him up. Got him Rad Racer, The Legend of Zelda and Iron Tank. I'm not sure if what I've done is a good thing or not yet.

Back in the day I raced electric cars (looked like a dirt late model) on a dirt oval and it was a blast. I also ran an electric pulling truck. It was a 2wd with a single motor and 230 lbs 30 feet was the best it ever did. Both were money pits since I always wanted them to go a little faster or pull more weight. It can get out of hand real quick if you aren't carefull.

Electric has come a long way. I had a 1/18 scale car with a brushless motor that did 0-60 faster than most real cars. Was fun as hell.

I've got a nitro car collecting dust if you are interested

LOL. Just one? I got 3 here. I really need to get them running again.

yeah just one, I had more fun building it than racing it. Decided I'd rather tinker on big cars instead.
