The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Okay, so far I'm thinking either of these 3 to use for a snow setup on the MSM. What do you guys think?

Snow setup? What happened to the MS3?

Seems like a shame to subject that car to the winter. :(

Why not just some cheap Craigslist wheels/snow tires? I couldn't justify spending $950 on wheels that are just going to get all chewed up from the salt. Or just use your stock wheels for your winter tires and buy/use the new wheels for your summer setup.

The MS3 will be Melissa's new DD.

Perhaps he has a vault that we don't know about?
I wish. The MSM is a cheaper payment than Melissa's current lease. The end goal is to lower payments so I can pay off other bills more quickly. The MSM will be very well cared after for a 2-3 winters until we get bills down to where we can purchase a new to us truck. It will get regular baths including underbody cleanings as well as my special undercoating sauce, lol.

Snow tires for the 17's are around $650-800. The $950 budget is for wheels and tires. IDK, I kinda like the stock RH wheels.

Meh, the stock MSM wheels bend easily. I think Phen, Pablo and Fabio all had bent wheels at one time.

Which one is the third option?

my wheels are straight, and Fabio's felt fine while I had them.

Considering selling the 2 to recoup some funds every month. We're not financially in trouble but we've had some unexpected expenses come up and our accounts are lower than I'd like and the extra $300/month would help. Anyone here interested or know of someone who might be interested in a 2011 Mazda2 with ~17500 miles. I'm not really looking to make a profit but I'd have to be able to pay off the existing loan.

Do you know what the payoff is?

I like those wheels but IDK how the finish will hold up being partially polished. Thats the only thing that really worries me. Then again, I am about to start a powder coating business, lol.

I took the car through a car wash every week or two when I drove it for 1 winter, don't know if that helped but there is little to no rust on her now.

Fabio had at least two of them replaced after he bought the car.

I'm not trying to bash Miata wheels and get you girls all fired up, just saying I personally wouldn't invest in MSM wheels as my summer/track wheels if they are fragile.

Jon, my mum is looking for a new/used car. Price?

I have run through a couple of nasty pot holes, but they're still straight as far as I know. I'm back to being poor, and Backstreet was able to raise the car and eliminate the rubbing so I don't have a need for another set of wheels. I will need tires, but gotta wait for the tax refund for those.

Time to reply to everything in one big post.

I'm running 16's on my car now. They're out there for sure. I actually have 16" snow tires at the house but they're too tall for an MSM.

The tires that are on the car... the fronts are OEM Toyos, which were good in 2004. I'd get rid of them soon due to age.

They're not bad wheels. I had a lot of previous owner issues, and I'm sure the three bent wheels fell into that as well. When I got new tires a couple months into ownership, the shop told me they were bent. Such is life. The 04 wheels aren't very heavy either, compared to other stock wheels. They're around 17.5 lbs or so IIRC.

I'm not too worried about people copying me any more. I got flak when I first got the car, so I made fun of all of your pesky FWD cars, which pissed several of you off. I consider it payback. Now... everyone's buying Miatas. It's cool to see, but at the same time, I almost give next to two s**** about my car any more so it's a big ball of whatever. As long as people are enjoying them, that's all that matters.

It's ok Evan, MSM wheels deserve to be bashed. 17x7 +40 and 17 pounds. Completely inappropriate for a Miata, even it if has a turbo.

There are numerous strong, light, and cheap wheels that are 15x7, 15x7.5, or 15x8. Plus the tire selection is far and away better in 15s than 16 or 17.

Depending on price on your M2 we might be able to purchase it wholesale from you if nothing else.
Shoot me a PM also, please, Jon.

MSM looks awesome!

Where can I get the pink heart wheels??
Tire rack. Update your sig!
