The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Lol about the speeding debate.

Just chill out and get there a few minutes later. Better than worrying about cops around every corner and hill. Only speeding ticket i have was when passing someone near a small town with nothing else for the cop to do. 71 in a 55.

Been warned a couple times... for 63 in a 55. Again, bored cops.

If i was a cop, and saw a radar detector in a car i pulled over... they would be getting a ticket because they obviously were speeding, or else they wouldnt need that.

I dunno man, i have a radar detector and drive like an old man...except when Caravaning somewhere with the local crew on here

I personally prefer integrated radar/lidar solutions myself. The bike certainly needs one but then again, most cops don't even try (even though I would pull over), lol.

I don't understand why they picked Belle Isle and Long Beach over Mid-Ohio. Neither of those are particularly spectator or media friendly.

On a completely different note does anyone else hate the profile of the new Mazda3 hatchback as much as I do. Reminds me of the old AMC Gremlin (i.e. looks like a full-sized car with the back lopped off). The front of the car is soooo loooong!

Wow that's pretty stupid they dropped Lime Rock and Mid-Ohio. I have a feeling I won't be attending any races next year.

not to mention (atleast 2 years ago) the circuit itself at Belle Isle was absolute s***! and it is one of the worst as far as spectator friendly...

and i agree, i dont like the hatch, im a big wagon/hatch fan but i just dont like the ass end of it, something isnt quite right

im severely disappointed. closest races are now over 5 hours and im sorry, thats just not appealing for me. i cant say as of right now that i will be going to a race next year, nor can i say ill go out of my way to watch the races....
I mean i knew LRP wasnt big enough to support a full field BUT if there are other races where its only a few classes, why remove LRP?

agreed, I only have the stories of bad experiences from those that attended Detroit. Silver lining? Detroit needs all the boost in the economy it can get.

I'm with you and Levi, doesn't seem quite proportional, even the sedan looks a little off in some pics.
I'm dumb, are you guys talking about GrandAm and they simply changed the name?

Nevermind, I found the article Nate read.

I can't believe we're not going to have them at Mid-O this year. What the heck are we going to do in June? What will I have to look forward to all summer? Boo...

3rd annual Columbus meet!!!!!!!!!!!

Detroit: **** Detroit. Terrible city with a bad track that produces terrible racing. The only street circuit that I would hate to see more is Baltimore. Video example of the s*** that is Baltimore for reference: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=72rFXyYmUYE

Long Beach: The only street circuit in the US worth going to. (Unless they finish the supposed F1 street circuit in Weehawken, NJ which is supposedly going to be added to the 2014 F1 calendar.) This actually makes sense to me due to the proximity to LA and the amount of money it can attract. (Sponsors, big spenders, etc.) Plus the racing there is OK.

IMS: I may be alone, but I hate the IMS road course. I've been to IMS and it has a special bit of majesty in my mind due to the history. But leave it to Indy cars and NASCAR and take the sports cars elsewhere. I hated it when F1 cars ran there also.

Why exactly are VIR, Detroit, and Long Beach not going to include all of the classes?

LRP: From a purely spectator on TV perspective I dislike LRP because the racing there just isn't good. It's too short and there aren't any good places to pass.

Looks like I'll be saving a lot of money by not traveling for many corrals next year.

VIR should include all the classes. It's a big track.
IMS would probably be a little different if it was used more, but the road course really isn't all that great anyway. I hate running there on Forza.

Thanks for all the memories Grand Am. USCR can lick my taint.

The track may be big enough, but I was thinking there is not enough room for everybody in the paddock.

Been a couple years since we've been there. I'm trying to remember. You could be right on the size of the paddock.
