The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

So, I'm headed down to Tennessee this upcoming weekend for the gf's college 10yr reunion and I think we're gonna venture down to run the Tail of the Dragon. Any words of wisdom? I've heard it's a pretty fun stretch of road.

The tail of the dragon is fun, but also run the skyway

Crappy USCCS schedule just means more money to spend on HPDE'S, TT's, and AUTO-X's. or if you want to watch some cool events the vintage races at MidOhio and Pittsburgh just to name a few things to do.

Good point! I haven't been to a vintage since the last time I went to the Mitty. I love me some Vintage races. So cool seeing people flogging cars older than most of us.

I've heard that just about any road in that area is as good, if not better than the Dragon, with less traffic. I don't think you can go wrong.

Congrats to Jake on that stock block record! 533whp, 436 tq. Insane!

Effing. Nuts. WOW

Possible Mid-Ohio Vintage Race Mazda meet? It was the end of June last year

Saw this, thought of OMS...lol'd

HAHAHA!! Thats awesome! I've always wanted a Forester XT to turn into a Forester STI.
Excitement to top off the menchies night on the lawn. We're sitting there and a dbag in a crossfire blows by us heading east at a good 90+mph. We're like where are the cops when you need them. Then to our delight comes the popo folllowing him at a safer rste of speed. So we're sitting there talking about the idiot and lo and behold, he comes back past us heading west at a normal rate of speed with the popo behind him. Still no lights on. They got stopped at the light and after the light changed, a block down the lights came on and we all cheered. Lol oh the excitement! Then Marlon takes a hike down there to see what the idiot looked like and ends up giving an eye witness statement. The cop even said when he was first following him he lost sight of him, then all of a sudden he sees him coming back toward him at such a high rate of speed he couldn't get him on radar because he blew by too fast. What an idiot. Wonder if he turned around to try to impress us. Fail!!
GAH! Can't believe I missed that, lol.

Way to go Jake!!!

Good to know. Thanks Marlon. I don't know what map it came with though when I bought it. She ran great for a year, but now it's horrid when building boost.

Corey, why don't you go the SSAFC Library on line and download a map and upload it to your SSAFC and see how the car runs. I have a couple of maps on disc you can try and see if they work for you.

And to make this bad schedule even worse. Not all of the classes will compete at all of the events. I thought this "merger" was supposed to make sports car racing better, imo it is taking a step backward. I'm starting to think that NASCAR/the France family just wanted out of road racing and sold out to Dr. Panoz/IMSA. It's a shame if you ask me. No race at Mid-Ohio? It makes my head spin too much to even put my disappointment into words. The only race I might like to go to would be Indy but with it being a one day show with Nascar I will just save the cash and stay home. No races for me next season I guess.

Glad to know you are alive, my friend!

Low torque is due to the 5th gear pull and slower spool rate. Boost hit later than it typically would on a 4th gear pull by almost 1k rpm's from what I understand.

Had an interview today for a similar position with B of A. I feel it went well, the issue is that it is in Manhattan, New York!! I guess Frequent Flyer Miles are going to be the norm for awhile if it goes the way, I think it is!

Alright just throwing this out there, there will be a valve cleaning/install day at my house on Saturday. Get there whenever I have plenty of room for a bunch of people. If you don't have anything to do come and hang out and learn something! pm me for my address and any questions can be posted here. Its been too long since I have seen all you guys

Good luck on the NYC job, Marlon. But what will you do with the fleet? You see all the cars there all beat to s*** because New Yorkers are awesome drivers... :(

Good Luck Marlon!

Virginia has some bad drivers...

I kinda love the way New Yorkers drive because they do NOT eff around. But they park like crap, every car there has the front and rear bumpers scratched up from parallel parking and other hitting them. Not to mention the roads are much worse than anywhere in Cleveland. And the cost of living is crazy high.

Not to be the party pooper, just doesn't seem like a good idea to live in NYC if you're a car enthusiast. But I do love visiting that city. My old band used to play there all the time.

The plan is to take the waggin and reside in Joisy, ya freakin' mooks and take the bus/train to NYC. No way in hell, could I afford parking in the city! Lauri will remain in Ohio and I will come home on thr weekend and I will see if I can work, 4-10 hour days and alternate Friday and Monday's until something opens up in the Cleveland area. We will see how things go and we'll make any and all adjustgments!!!!!
