The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Theres posts in that thread of failure without spacers as well. One while torquing them to the recommended 65 ft lbs

Interesting. I didn't read all of the other posts, but that's odd. I don't trust aluminum lug nuts for racing though. I had an issue last year with aluminum Gorilla lug nuts. I did a track day at Pitt Race and it was the first track day I did after getting my BC coilovers, Nitto NT01 tires, and all new front and rear brake pads/rotors. I've been told that Pitt Race is famous for causing cars to experience major brake fade (even race cars). It's a pretty busy short course with only 2 straightaways. I experienced huge brake fade and found out after that my rotors reached at least 1200F (My DBA rotors have heat reactive paint stripes that turn white when the rotors reach certain temps). My theory is that due to the insane amounts of heat, my lug nuts expanded slightly and came loose on the driver front wheel. I drove down the front straight and while going through turn 1, I saw one of my lug nuts shoot past my car. I pulled off the track real quick and waited until the session ended. Because of the loose nuts (torqued before the session), I sheered off 3 studs.

Luckily, Pitt Race rents Mazda 6's for use on the track so they had 3 studs that fit my car.

I have a 360 to donate to the cause. But this is making me want different lugs lol. I have gorilla lugs now

I'd be in for that for sure. I've got an Xbox 360.
Does Forza 4 have the MS6 in it? I haven't played in so long I can't remember the lineups anymore. I think it'd be kind of fun. If we want to get serious we can "propose" and "approve" modifications based on our real cars' configurations. For example my 2 is bone stock so no hard decisions there but there are no n/a FC's in Forza. I think the closest to my car would be the "Savanna" RX-7 with no power upgrades, but moderate suspension/brake/wheel/tire upgrades and small weight reduction. I know certain cars won't compare to others (my 2 comparted to your MS6, for example) but it would still be fun to put them both on a track at the same time and see what kind of chaos ensues.

I has PS3

LOL no Forza on Playstation anyway :p Sony really dropped the ball on racing sims.

I've been using 5mm spacers and Gorilla steel lugs for about 5 years now. No issues.

Ivan and I built our cars (well, I built the black P6 even though it was never finished) on Forza and used to race all the time. It was a blast. Of course, driver mod still trumps all so you'll still probably whoop me in your 2. I'll have to see if they have a Mazda6 in there.

No 6, unfortunately. :(

I wouldn't hate seeing a black Protege running with us tho. Still in our hearts, wishing it would have been finished.

I has GT5...

except gran turismo 5 is probably the greatest racing simulator so far.

I wouldn't say GT5 is dropping the ball
LOL, knew that was coming. I think Microsoft release 3 versions of Forza while Sony kept promising GT5. While Forza 1 and 2 we okay at best, it's my personal opinion that Forza 4 trumps GT5 in just about every way. I played GT2 and 3 back in the day and was always bothered by the lack of crash physics and rigid modification guidelines. For example in Forza 3 you can put a 20B in a Protege, LOL!

While that is cool, I can't stand the XBox, and I definitely can't stand having to pay to play online.
