The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Calling all nerds: I haven't been able to find a good video encoder for my Galaxy Tab 2. I have a bunch of videos in different formats that I want to put on it and I haven't been able to. I've tried 3 different programs (Aimersoft for Mac, Smart Video Converter for Mac and another one for Win). I've selected different formats for the output but they just won't play. I'm using the default player on the tablet, as well as MX Player which is supposed to be the best (codecs are updated).

I have a few videos that do play (MP4 and FLV), but haven't had luck with movies.

Any suggestions?

Nate, we saw this on a bumper sticker once in CA years ago, and it's become one of my favorite mantras!! (and so true, unfortunately)

My dad had it as a magnet on his work truck and the Union reps that came to the job made him take it off because "it could be insulting to some workers" my dad responded with thats the point

Handbrake is good stuff. Has preset conversion settings or you can create your own!

Edit: Pablo, you can also try this app. It allowed me to watch videos without converting them first

So far Online Player wasn't able to play the original file, tried the default setting and a second one for HandBrake but still no luck. Will have to try a few more options, but its really annoying. Bought a 32GB sd card and haven't been able to put anything on it...

What do they need to be in? No clue, I have a couple of FLVs and a MP4 that work fine (without any encoding). The file I'm encoding right now is MP4, the movies are a variety: MKV, AVI, MOV, TS, MPEG. I also tried Mobo player in the past, didn't work.

When I select default encoding settings for an Android device, it alwasy defaults to MP4. I tried changing the codec to match what the player uses (MPEG-4 FFmpeg) and it still didn't work.

Hey Sho, just heard on the radio that tax returns for students are delayed because of some changes in the forms... some fields were not supposed to be left blank...

And I stay away from Shell as well, don't get the best mileage from them but I'll take it over GE. I wish Sunoco brought back 94.

Gasoline is gasoline. Only the detergents added after refining are different. Around here Shell and Sunoco are generally $0.20+ more expensive per gallon than other stations right across the street. Not worth it IMO. I've noticed no difference in fuel economy or performance in my 2 (87) or Flex (93) with BP, Shell, Sunoco, Marathon, or UDF.
