The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

******* google... Thanks, Anthony and google. How's the new P5 running, btw? (see what I did there?)

It's running great other than an annoying exhaust leak. I'm enjoying the huge torque increase over the '00 LX. Now I have to decide what to do with the 3 Proteges... Was thinking of swapping the motor, trans and brakes over to the 2000 and selling the p5 in the Spring, or possibly keeping it for next winter.

Fez has bought a used motor from Fatti and is having it built. Christmas Tree will be back in the Spring!

Copied from my friend/landlord's fb page, who lives in Austin, TX....

On the plane back to Austin I sat next to Mark Raffauf, director of racing operations for the Rolex Grand Am series and the one largely responsible for the effective merger with the ALMS. It was great talking with him, but I was secretly wishing he would invite me to hang out with him and the other IMSA folks during the F1 race!

COTA will be offering parade laps at our Mazda Corral at the track! We are working on pricing as of this post!

Well, it happened...

Yeah, I don't blame him either. I understand his frustration. I would offer to help but I don't know much.

edit - quick search for an MZR on ebay and they are ~$2500. I'm so glad I have a cheap motor in the P5. If/when I blow this KL up I'll just swap in another one for ~$700 shipped to my door. (cabpatch)
I don't blame him, either. I loved my bike but it got to the point where everytime I turned around something was effed up. I couldn't handle it, sold it for a hewge loss :(

Try $2k for a 1L motor with almost 100k on it. Used Smart engines FTL

Tried bleeding the clutch on the Miata tonight.... For a few hours. Seriously. No clue wtf is wrong with it. I actually wondered if I got a defective wilwood cylinder. I gave up...

tonight we bolted up the '06 mazda6 calipers/rotors to the pro- the front's barely fit with the stock 16" wheels but they do fit. The junk yard sent us some pads when we bought them but i don't know whose pads these are... they fit in the caliper but they don't cover the whole surface of the rotor. It looks like slightly bigger than the stock protege pads...mazda6 pads, with a massive rotor... did mazda just feel like using a huge rotor and relatively small pads?

Ordered some pads from napa- we'll see what they look like tomorrow or saturday

apparently Hostess is discontinuing a lot of their products (Twinkies, HoHo’s, Ding Dongs, and Hostess Cup Cakes, etc), so our development manager got us all some Chocodiles :)

apparently Hostess is filing for Chapter 7 bankruptcy and liquidating all their assets / going out of business.

ftfy. It's a bit more than discontinuing. Though, the individual popular brand names / bakeries / machinery will likely be bought up by other companies and come back under new management, unless I miss my guess.
