The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Some kyb's . I did some research and from what autozone ,advanced, napa and summit sold the kyb seemed to be the best. Plus they were over 20.00 cheaper each! Can't wait till they come in lol. Could really use a strut bar too if anyone has on.

Can't wait to see Spicy.

On another note I have a catalytic converter that likes to smoke know and I have a rattling sound when on the throttle. On top of of that when when I started my car today it had no cel lights on and every time I came to a stop it would idle down to 200 rpms, the coolant light would come on. Then it would idle back to normal right after and the light would go back off. I have no idea why it would do that. Then the cel light came back on after my 40 mile journey and everything was fine. WTF? Hopefully we make it over to the bbq without any problems. Any ideas on the MSP?

I still can't figure out why its taking almost 20 days to get a pair of struts. You would think they're custom made for my car.. Fml. On a positive note I did get it running again. Pulled the fuse box open under the hood and somehow there was a fuse that had popped out and was laying there? How does that happen?!

Corey, were you able to pull the CEL code? You switched over to your Mishimoto rad and fans, right? I'm assuming the temps were running okay?

Leyland, my P5 stalled one when I hit a huge pot hole in Cleveland, it popped a fuse block right out of the fuse box by the strut tower. And bent one of my Enkeis...

Anyone know where I can get a FS motor to slap in the MSP?

Hey Evan we could do a mega super swap and pull your FS and put it into my MSP and I'll help you swap in your KL :)

we could make it work. 3 rotor pro for the ?

Okee dokee. But my FS has 221,000 miles on it and burns oil. You won't want it unless you rebuild it. I'm pulling it in June after Mid-Ohio.

ps- Don't worry, Jon. I got it repaired at Motomotion and they did a great job. ;)

So should I just pull the motor and take it attempt to tear it down and just fix what is wrong with it for now or ?

That's all your call, buddy. Personally, I'm not comfortable rebuilding motors yet so I would just a new (used) FS and swap them out. But we don't know what is wrong with your motor yet. But with 100k miles on her, a new motor or rebuild wouldn't be a bad idea. It did sound heavenly when you took off last night though...

Do you ever plan on building a "big" motor in the future? My input:

1. If you're planning for big power in the future and you can tolerate the car being down for a while I say pull, tear it down and build it all up.
2. If you aren't looking for big power or can't afford to have the car down for a while swap the current engine for a reman/used one so you can build it up.

I'm thinking about plan #2 I've never had to rebuild a motor before, but would love to learn. I'm not really planning for any more power. Just a tune. I found this http://detroit.craigslist.org/wyn/pts/2968319574.html and called them about it. I might have to go and pick it up outta Dtown. 109k out of a 01 ES.

When the motor went on my RX-7 I was debating the same two options. Because I planned on building up the engine in the future I didn't really see any sense in spending $1.5k on a rebuild (doing it myself) just to tear into it again in a couple years down the road. I also have several other cars to drive so the RX-7 being down for a long time isn't really a big deal.

My wife will disagree on that last point but that's just because she lost her parking spot in the garage.

That was the weird part because Evan#2 and I where cruisin back north and it ran awesome and I tripped it in the morning and had 179 miles with almost 3/4 of a tank left.
